Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Coz we are aulwans/oulfellas... we are allowed to be fussy, demanding, grumpy, pedantic and stubborn...

So i propose the thread count should go to 10,001:)

and when we hit that number we must have a street party (chucken your doing the cooking) OG can show us how to shake our burlesque booty, Cicero can be the sommelier ... Rube can regale us with stories of his mispent youth, meself and Jelly Baby will do the decorations and Alice can give us one of her magnificent lunar dances

who knows maybe we could have a game of 88 two fat ladies:P

I would be happy to pass over 50 euros to anyone who can get they image of soup made from lettuce out of my head.

I still feel a bit queasy at the thought.

Well done Chuck, you get a gold star. It's a great line, so good they used it twice! - "I read a book once. Green, it was" I still laugh out loud every time.

This is tonight's moon - taken at 12.10am - very bright but smallish. Just back after driving 50 miles and you could almost do it with the lights off.

Hope you didn't try that Spread. You know how we worry when you try your silly tricks at your age. You put your back out swinging from the chandelier last time.

Will disregard the above comment and thanks :o. My vertigo has put paid to those kinds of highjinks. Anyway, Cisse shook the net as QPR score in the 89th minute to stay out of the relegation zone. So thanks everyone for the Special Novenas. If ye can do a repeat performance next Saturday against City ......... or at least get the teams below to lose (as well) I'll be eternally grateful. And one doesn't make a promise like this lightly :D

Right, am off to town to celebrate with breakfast and Mimosas. Wehey!

What with Perigree Moon, Cinco de Mayo celebrations and QPR doing the biz with a minute to go .......... tomorrow Monday will be a bit of an anti climax. Still, it's great to have a huge hangover at times ......... plenty of strong Lyons tea and semi-brisk walks with the hounds. Ahhhhh, the joys of ageing!

Long weekend, day and a half of work and then a couple of weeks off.

We seem, to have a name change above .......... Old Gloat!

How many of ye donned Red Hats yesterday? ........ Jenny Joseph's birthday

    Warning

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people's gardens
    And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

    Jenny Joseph

I don't know if the Purple Hat movement has reached these shores yet and none of my hats are purple anyway.

Here's a plan ........... a bottle of Port & Brandy a day for the next 12 months (secretly, of course) and your nose should be a nice purple/lilac/aubergine tone. The Fez atop will do the rest. Welcome to the Dublin Brigade of Red Fez Society :D

Due to technical thingies large threads like this get stopped/closed/locked and a new thread is started in it's place. Something to do with keeping the moderators supplied in Coke & Hookers. Anyway it's close to that point with this thread. So, at some point in the next week or so I'll be locking this thread and opening a new thread. That gives us the opportunity to come up with a new name or to go with Ciceros existing name MkII

The world of craft have taken the Red Hat Society on board all right I think, otherwise it's not to be heard of much in this neck of the woods. Have you seen them in Google images? Too much red and purpole for me, it made me feel dizzy!!
