I got one a few weeks ago at the same price. Not sure if its any good for wiping feet. If it gets dirty its into the bin with it. Plus its very slippy on tiled or wooden floors.

    Looks nice though.

thats good, and they are in pineapple juice. Some fruits are in syrup or other juices like cheaper apple juice.

Tescos own brand are strangely priced, the rings are 66c and the chunks are 95c. The 66c rings are 432g, so slightly less per gram than dole, the small tin suits me better though and dole are probably better.

The same tesco range have 227g for 83c! big tin is cheaper.

Tesco Pineapple Slices In Natural Juice 432G
    €0.66 (€2.55/kg)

Tesco Pineapple Slices Natural Juice 227G
    €0.83 (€6.11/kg)
Couldn't find the Dole pineapple, was it in a clearance area?

I've been seeing Kirstie Allsop stuff since Jan/Feb, but originally scanning at full price although marked as clearance. It used to be on an endcap, then they moved it into the stationery aisle and finally marked it down by 25%, but I think it's still way too expensive at that. Has anyone seen it at decent prices?

I'm also seeing bluetooth speakers in clearance but still only have 25% off although they've been in clearance area about a month. I'm waiting for them to be reduced more.

One example is this one - Divoom Bluetune Bean Bluetooth Speaker Red

Some strange ‘Make me an offer table’ in Tesco Naas this lunch time. I didn’t have time to get the details unfortunately. Suitcases seemed to be the most popular item, people going around with trolley loads, most people were struggling with three to four each. One of the labels I saw on a suit case was marked €7.00 down from €51.00.

Saw one Nintendo DS Lite Pink (or Metallic Rose as per the box) in Maynooth yesterday for €50

Silver one beside it was €179.99 ....

Might be of use to someone

"Make me an offer" promo is supposed to be on in Tesco Extra, Naas all weekend. Suitcase offer was stopped yesterday and the guy doing it got a right bollcocking from one of the managers. Apparently suitcases were not supposed to be included. Plenty of other stuff though. You have to go in each day to see what they bring out from their overstocked store-room. Nothing is pre-advertised. Wife got roasting tray with carving knife & fork for €2,Salter kitchen scales for €4 (originally €30 then down to €22), and kids bracelet making set for €4 (originally €30 then down to €19). Had to put suitcases back though.

Recently did it between Wexford and Clarehall.

    Lucan store, possible nationwide:

    Colgate Omron c350 electric toothbrush.

    Was 80, now 40.

Also a novelty on the box, it says "powered by japanese technology." That probably means it comes in powder form and you add water before you shape it into a toothbrush with a tiny spatula.

Big new Tesco opening in Dundalk 2nd August. As a club card owner I got a brouchure in the post with three vouchers with €4 off €20 spend for each of the next three weeks. Dunnes have responded by putting a €10 off €40 spend voucher in the local papers. Applies to new Tesco and three Dunnes in Dundalk only. Bit of a mini price war.

The new Tesco also has petrol which may put downward pressure on prices locally.

Well it may be better than normal- but when you compare it with Dunnes and Supervalu doing the 18 pack at 6 and 5 Euro respectively- its only matching what their competitors are offering (though Supervalu do seem to be that little bit cheaper than elsewhere- when you factor the 10 off when you spend 50 into the equation- getting the per unit cost for the cans down to 22.2c per can- if you buy 10 trays of 18 for 40 Euro- i.e. 18 pack trays at 4 Euro each, but you have to buy 10 to get them at this price)........

Shop around- some surprises out there.

Not sure that it is a pricing error, I've been buying it at that price for at least 6 months, maybe closer to a year? Never posted it as a Tesco bargain alert as I had no idea it was a good price!

In Mahon Point, the blue Wingman stuff is marked at €2.80 but scanning at €4.35.

Qualifies for the double the difference refund.

Tesco frequently have pricing inconsistencies between the small and large size of the same product, this was highlighted in an IT article recently. It always pays to check whether it's better to buy 2 of the small size as opposed to 1 of the large size ;)

This is €1.67 vs €3.65 for the bio version in the same 630ml size.

I'm never sure whether something is a sale price or clearance. This week noticed double-packs of Dove soap - similar to this but green packaging - they were 44c, I think regularly €1.59. Also found Johnsons Baby Bedtime Powder 400g for €1.59. I see the latter is just a sale price but bought a couple as I really like the light fragrance.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,373 ✭✭✭✭foggy_lad

If shopping online buy the tesco boneless loin pork chops 600g which are on sale @ €3.29 at the moment. They only weigh 435g as stated on the packet so you will be entitled to a refund! Also for online shoppers the bags of tesco carrots advertised as being 600g are also underweight at only 500g so more refund savings there but only 39cent per pack.

Be aware though if you buy the same items again and they are still grossly underweight tesco will refuse to refund or deal with you.

There is a doubt as to the continuation of this practice. Many stores mention that this policy is withdrawn.

Any time that i have been overcharged the person at the CS desk has tried to refund the difference only, until i point to their "Our Promise" sign that clearly states that they give double the difference. It is a big blue sign and is usually located at the CS desk and by the tills. The staff either genuinely do not know the Tesco policy or they are chancing their arm hoping to get away with refunding the difference only!!

Think it's being discontinued. It's a shampoo/shower gel/shave gel combo thing. Not really into it myself. If you're looking for it in Mahon Point, it's opposite the cosmetics.

Big blue sign as described behind the CS desk in Mahon Point. From memory, the "double the difference" part is the very last bit of the sign.

Every time I go the cs desk re double the difference, in many different stores, they always give me back just the difference first. When I say it is double the difference it is always a case of oh right!

Now, if I was working at cs desk and genuinely thought it was just the difference and a customer said it was double the difference, the first thing I would do is look at the big blue sign that customer is quoting and apologise or else say i need to check with a manager, I did not know that.

Instead they always give back double when asked for, which leads me to believe that the staff are told to give back just the difference, unless the customer specifically asks for double the difference and as I said this happens in all stores

I've got to agree. This has happened to me before. I had looked at the sign which was just behind the girl at the CS desk and I know she has worked there for a long time to its a flimsy excuse.

Its all accounted for with the receipt they issue- so its certainly not that. I'd say its some instruction from management that they're following.

    Could you brazenly exploit it?

As in that Wingman stuff. What's to stop me, besides shame, buying the 10 remaining bottles, going through the tills paying the scanned €43.50 instead of the advertised €28, and then heading straight over the to CS desk looking for my €31 refund?

Considering they told me over the phone yesterday that if i buy a product which is falsely advertised online again that I have already been refunded for they will not entertain any further claims, they are basically saying they will advertise one price or one weight and actually charge a different price or sell a lower weight!

You could be left spotlessly clean but could be paying far too much for the wingman stuff.

I think online is different though .

It states in the T&Cs that they are guide prices only.

Soarer, the price promise thing is there because it is supposed to act as a balancing act in the consumer's mind against being charged wrong.
That is, when you go around Tesco picking up loads of items, you really don't have time nor should you have to, go checking everything at the end. So to allay your concerns, Tesco commit that if something is wrong, and you spot it, they give you back double or whatever.

There are thousands of customers a day going to Tesco getting charged wrong prices, I wonder do Tesco discuss in the board room "Could we brazenly just cut back expenditure on our price monitoring controls?"

    :D
