Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

as said, obvious ones already gone, would like Sounness, could give Gerrard the opportunity to get forward, we have missed somebody like that since Der Kaiser left.

Anyone for Keegan back to Anfield? Not ahead of Dalgish, but put him off Torres and we'd be away.

    Cantona.

A young Tony Adams. Was thinking about Henry, Wright, Bergkamp, Seaman, Brady, McLintock, or Eddie McGoldrick. But Big Tone shades it.

Allan Clarke. Leeds aren't short of goalscorers at the moment, but he was my favourite player as a kid and I was just a couple of years too young to see him at his absolute peak.

    Ernie Crawford. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernie_Crawford

Any of the following in their prime would be great too - Crowe, Hunt and Sparky Rutherford.

Probably Best and have him on the left wing with Ronny on the right, or Denis Irwin at right back...

Albertini, because I reckon the was the arch typical deep play maker (pirlo posistion) and I love him so I do.

I also wish that Maldini and Costacurta were ten years younger and the best CB pairing in the world again... Oh how I miss the milan of the 90's.

Zoro, I miss him too, and Massaro and the Seba Rossi (most insane goal keeper EVER, was a ****ing crime he never got an Italian cap, he was far better than the other two plebs!).

Great post. Can I add to this. Baresi along with a younger maldini and billy and lets not forget the unsung hero, Tasotti!!!!

Albertini, good god I think the whole world of football seems to have forgotten what a player he was. I remember reading an interview with him in calcio itallian saying when he moved back to italy to Atalanta he had to double check the crest on the jersey as he couldn't believe he was pulling on a blue and black stripe jersey. Legend.

For Juve Ciro Fererra would be a great man to sure up our defence.

For Chelsea it would have to be Zola, for the entertainment alone

Manu need another striker so it would have to be either law/rvn/yorkie or cantona..id go with Law over Ruud as he only seemed to be at his best for united when Becks was there to supply the balls.

Though I would rather have Keano at his best and buy benzahma in the Summer!

Dixon,Winterburn,Adams, Keown,Pires,Freddie,Bergkamp. Henry but if it has to be just one then it has to be Henry.

None of them come even remotely close to the greatness of.............

    Santiago 'The Perm' Ezquerro. :p

Thank god he's still at the club and in his prime...

Not to mention Cantona, Bruce and van Nistelrooy!:)
As great as Keano was, I'd have to say Cantona.
Schmeichel we missed for a long time, with a succession of dodgy keepers (Massimo Taibi, anyone?) But Van der Sar's definitely the best we've had since the great Dane, so I wouldn't miss him as much

because the word "AND" suggests the word "OR"?
You'd make a wonderful electronic engineer. Just use the same logic gate for every circuit...sure they're all the same thing!

Okay, I'm going to have to ask, who's the Man Utd player that was nicknamed "God"? A quick Google search hasn't thrown up any concrete evidence.

It's Anderson but tbh, it's just a play on the United sponsors name.

    Anderson
    Is
    God

The current flavour of the month! Calling a player "god" is the same as calling him "good" for a manc. There's no real distinction.

So the question is why would you bring him back to Man Utd if he's already there?

Maybe the God he was referring to was Paul McGrath? who would IMO party harder then spiceboy Fowler any day.

That's what I thought originally but according to Wikipedia, it was the Aston Villa fans who gave him that nickname, not the Man Utd ones.
who would IMO party harder then spiceboy Fowler any day.
 Err, okay, you do know Paul McGrath is an alcoholic right?

Really? All of my Man Utd supporting friends called him "The King" or "King Eric". They never referred to him as God.

I guess it's not going to turn out to be someone like Paul Parker or Clayton Blackmore then? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,036 ✭✭✭jem

    oh who to pick,
lauro or hansen at the back, barnes on the wing or maybe highwayor even whelan, souness or molby in the middle, king kenny or rush up front, so many to chose from.
Torres covers for rushie, alonso for molby, aggar may in time be a lauro/hansen so sort of down to 3
    barnes/souness/king kenny.
we need flair on the wing, we need a true general in midfield and who wouldn't want king kenny up front to link with torres. flip of a coin in a lot of ways.heart goes for king kenny, but I think we need the wing flair more at the min so would go for digger, I think.

Always surprises me the way Clayton Blackmore's name gets mentioned in that context. He was actually a very good player. Paul Parker I was never a fan of.
