Some smack of nostalgia listening to them now. The music alone in that game would keep you playing it for longer than you expected.

    This was my favorite

Edit: Ah the days of modern consoles should mean this new game will allow custom sound tracks, so we can just put these classic on the xbox and skate to them :)

Jesus that music really does take me back. I just had a weird flashback to a full blown party with me and a friend sitting all night playing TH3 in the middle of it.

Riley? Hes not that bad a skater (sponsored by Lakai and obviously Birdhouse). There is better but its no surprise hes there

Apparently, Activision (or whoever designs the TH games today) really wanted to get Riley Hawk involved in the last 3 TH games, but Riley refused, as he didnt want to ride on his father's coat-tails, insisting he would only be in a game when he was involved in the Pro circuit. Tony Hawk said he was surprised when Riley agreed. So its not a case of 'Yay, I get to be in Dad's game!'.

Ah very interesting, might actually play as him now. Wonder if he can do the 900

Wasn't TH3 the 1st or one of the 1st online console games?????? I seem to remember a special 3rd party modem for it and other connection methods that predated slim ps2 and it's network port.

I gather you mean first online PS2 game? The Dreamcast was online about 2 years before that (and if you want to be an uber geek you could say the adapter yokey for the Super Famicom in Japan, wasn't that online? the satellite vision or whatever it was called?)

The was definitelty an official external modem for the fat PS2 but not sure what the first games for it where. Agian I'd say it took off more in JApan than in the west. Resident Evil Outbreak didn't have online features in the west but it did in JApan.

Yeah I meant ps 2, remember being chuffed when I got it working with a hack and patch setup only to discover the horrific lag :D

This news brings back memories! Good to see the school and hangar are in it. Hopefully the bull ring and Venice Beach are too.

    Will definitely be purchasing this!

Started playing my housemates copy of Skate 3 last night after getting very excited about skateboarding games again.

Man that game is frustrating. Give me the super crazy combos of THPS any day!

Tony Hawks HD is getting got on the 18th July! Hope it's out the same day for PS3 anyway. Does anyone know if 1200 MSP is the same as around 12 euro?

1200 MSP is a bit steep for a few levels from 10year old games. It is just a "best of" from the first few releases, yeah?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,901 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Ah it will be well worth it for 12 euro as it was built again as a proper remake, not just re-release. The nostalgia will be worth the 12 euro alone.

I kinda related more to 3 & 4 (before playing THUG 1&2), but i'll buy this and hope for a HD sequel (3&4)

It's been said that they will be releasing DLC of levels from 3 and 4 but I can't find the article now.

There was a face book poll or poll somewhere on what levels will be selected I believe.

why do they get exclusivity, summer of arcade has nothing to do with PSN.

I reckon I might wait and see which levels are re-appearing before I shell out for this.

Because Microsoft pay publishers for it to have big titles just on their promotion for a while

Ah man, dont mind dlc and pre order bonuses, I think exclusive deals are the worst! God knows when ill get to play dawnguard and even rockstar sold out when they let xbox have gta 4 addons to 6 months early!

    I don’t want no 2 minute Man 35
Held a combo for 30 seconds after the time is up in Marseille
Marseille! That's the first I ever played of Tony Hawk as it was a demo with a magazine. Played the demo to death, then went and got the first and second games. Can't wait to see it with the new textures.

I really don't care about levels, I just want it to play like it used to before it turned to poo. Actually I care more about whether or not the soundtrack for TH3 dlc levels will have some of the songs from the original :o

It didn't take Activision long to figure out how to make use of the "retired" Tony Hawk's brand.

I've been playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 on my Xperia Play these past few days. Glad to see that most of the good songs fron this will be available in the HD version.

I have the points on my account but will I get it? my worry is it will be really hard to play and requires months of play to get good at it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,126 ✭✭✭✭calex71

My god I'm glad I got the trial and didn't buy it off the bat, after only 5 minutes playing one thing really bothers me, the game plays from the start like the moon gravity cheat from the old games is switched on , you get way too much air off the pipes.

I'll play a bit more and see if I can deal with it.

The early reviews (not from the most reliable sources, granted) are tepid to say the least: http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/bailing-hard-in-our-tony-hawks-pro-skater-hd-review/

I also can't believe they didn't include the revert, and it's only coming as DLC with the THPS3 content! Leaves a bad taste, that sort of nonsense.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,126 ✭✭✭✭calex71

Grinds and manuals are crazy easy to hold too, now I'm just thinking maybe the fact im playing the demo that Tony's stats are maxed or something????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,348 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

The demo has actually inspired me to pick up Skate 3 instead.

I was gonna get Skate 3 earlier this year but said I would hold out for THPS HD. If you get Skate 3, let us know if it's any good.

Watched a video of it and there's only 7 levels? And one of them is from that terrible Downhill Jam game? That's pathetic

edit: Downhill Jam is a level from tony hawk 1 :o

It's Activision. They'll be selling DLC levels for months.

I don't think seven levels for a cheap downloadable game is all that unexpected. Was made known from the outset it would be built upon by DLC.

But the more I read, there's certainly a layer of cynicism to this project (the absence of revert is appalling), and by the sounds of it it doesn't deliver a hell of a lot to counter it. Definitely waiting for more reactions before picking it up anyway.
