Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Heard this for the first time today, sounds quite good.

    Topical, pacey and caller driven.

Going to try it for a while, can't be any worse than Liveline at the moment ...

Fair play Skid can't be worse than Joooeeee the last few days and is a good unFunny Friday alternative to those who can't leave Joe (yet!)

Listened in today myself after flicking around due to being unable to stick anymore Liveline. Awful the past two days.

Good first impressions of Harvey though! Will definitely be giving this a listen tomorrow.

David Harvey is on now, talking about Pamela Izevbekhai

Lively debate so far, he's not happy about the expense incurred on this case.

Hi all, I’m a liveline deserter. Joe can stick his Artane Industrial school guilt trip up his hole

Just turned radio on, lasted 2 minutes of Joe. What's the show on here about today?

A full hour of Pamela Izevbekhai so far, and more to come.

Reasonably good standard of debate, callers with nothing to say are dumped quickly.

    Not bad.

Cool thanks Skid couldn't face anymore Artane.

David Harvey is where its at for me now, hope more see the light.
Way longer than liveline, better topics, better presenter & more balanced.

Liveline is a shambles of a show.

Not bad, good to see competition for Joe.

True, it's wrong to discuss it in the context of deportations, without making that point.

What is it with irish sites using proprietary technologies for their online radio. Realplayer for RTE and Windows Media Player for 4fm. Does anyone have a flash-based or HTTP/RTP based link for listening to 4fm online?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,160 ✭✭✭Callan57

David Harvey is not bad at all keeping it moving along nice & lively & seems to have no problem thinking on his feet. Reminds me of what Liveline used to be like ....

Love that Joe Duffys researchers got slagged there, :)

I like the caller plugging every other Radio phone in, even after DH told him not to!

Try www.tunein.com and search for 4fm.

Combination of a strong accent and a bad line, doesn't make for good radio.

I think they overdid this subject a bit, Nearly two hours of it is a bit much.

I suppose it's something that gets the phonelines hopping.

Ta I thought my phone was buffering the stream. I only tuned in at 2 so not too bad, he really lets them loose quite surprised, enjoying it.

heard bits of liveline at the start today and turned over for a while to this chap. wasnt trying to keep it all pc and friendly unlike that useless fecker on rte. that artane thing was like listening to a bunch of kids trying to out do each other by seeing who got the hardest beating

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 14,124 Mod ✭✭✭✭pc7

Oh no its abuse here too, its so sad and tragic, but very hard listen too for 4 days, think it'll be newstalk for me today.

At least it's in the context of Enda Kenny's speech yesterday, which is a topical issue, rather than revisiting Artane again and again.

But as you say, there's only so much of this you can take in one week!

They are discussing the man sent to prison for 12 years ...

This caller says 'he deserves a medal' Hmmm ...

I have to say this is what Liveline should be about before JD lost the run of himself on his ego trip.

Dreading how much this new tax will be, its one thing after the other. I would much prefer taxation from source, at least that way I know what my take home pay is. If I have to pay for it, I don't believe those on the dole should be exempt, deduct 1 euro a week from them towards it too.

I happened to tune in today to this show and they had Gerald Kean (Solicitor to the stars) presenting the show filling in for Dave Harvey! - he'll be on again tomorrow and Tuesday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,765 ✭✭✭GSF

Harvey always sounds like a hardcore FF'r to me anytime I hear him.

More bullsh1t of "celebrity" non-broadcasters presenting radio shows, an approach pioneered by Newstalk. (Hook, Yates, Bobby Kerr, etc.)

Anyone listening to his show today?

it's like the radio version of Jeremy Kyle.

    Some strange people out there.

Harvey himself I find quite disturbing, for an intelligent guy he comes out with some rather strange comments and varies from patronising certain callers to almost attacking them at times, that's entertainment I guess but I just find his approach quite unmannerly and ignorant on occasion. Then again considering the intellectual level of some of the callers the show attracts maybe it's understandable. Car crash radio is the only way I can describe it.

I had the misfortune a few days ago to listen. Some clown on boasting how he would "take on" an attacker armed with an AK47.

Deluded doesnt even begin to describe some of the callers.

BTW Jeremy Kyle started in radio & I think he still does have a radio call in show?

Harvey on radio comes across as cold , dispassionate and curt. He simply lacks empathy and warmth in interviews, I think he comes from the same school as PK when it comes to human engagement.

I think this show just about edges Liveline for comedy value. It's only been on 10 minutes and already there's been
    "Give pedos the lethal injection"
"I wouldn't wash no cars for them pigs (police)"
"You have to de-labelise these scumbags"

It's like Funny Friday on acid.

Seems to be bringing home the bacon judging by above. Any views re possible Presidential Commode Emptying?

This is better than Liveline, not afraid to tackle the issues.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,066 ✭✭✭✭neris

Joe Duffy never tackles issues of importance coz he cant force his opinion on people then. Hes talking bout some religous boliks now on rte must be licking up to the church after their litle spat with the priest

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,873 ✭✭✭Skid

David Harvey is alright, he stirs it up a bit now and then, but he doesn't let the callers ramble on for ages like Duffy.

  • Registered Users Posts: 822 ✭✭✭newcavanman

I have to say, i find myself listening to this programme more regularly than i thought i would . D Harvey seems to have somewhat similar opinions to myself, and that really makes a change from the crap that joe duffy usually spouts
