    Well.. here it is..

I'll start with the build list.

PlanetX nanolight HM frame size L
    Cannondale SuperSix fork
Campag SR11 Chainset with carbon chainrings and kcnc bolts
    Campag SR11 FD
Campag SR11 RD with carbon pulleys
    Campag SR11 shifters
    KMC 11SL chain
Alligator mini ilink casing with jagwire cables
    KCNC C7 brakes
    Zipp Contour SL bars 44cm
    Lizardskins DSP bartape 1.8
    Extralite Stem 120mm
    Extralite Ultrastar2 expander
    Extralite taperhead1 headset
    Smud Seatpost
    Smud saddle
    Smud seatpost clamp
    Smud bottle cages and bolts
Farsport wheels 24mm tubs, edhub ceramics, cxray spokes with 25mm Veloflex Roubaix tyre
    Tune skewers
    Recon 11sp cassette
    5.63kg

    1.JPG

I have to say, climbing with this setup on the 25mm roubaix tyre is like being on a road made out of silk while being pulled by a rope made out of g-strings that have been worn by greek virgins.. In one word.. awesome!

And with the the gigantex 50mm tubs, 23mm Veloflex Carbon, 12-27 SR cassette and PX skewers it's 6.05kg.

    Few more pics..

Such vulgar considerations are dealt with here, by admission only.

It's like asking at a wedding how much the bride's new nose cost.

Here's my trusty steed since 1986, Raleigh Record Sprint, Reynolds 501, with all the gold bling, still getting me around all the sportives.

Is this an update on the previous build? What did you change?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,718 ✭✭✭AstraMonti

The big changes were the wheels, fork, brakes, saddle, bars.. and small changes in the headset, carbon pulleys, shift cables and i am probably forgetting stuff, every little gram counted to bring it down. And the fork totally transformed the ride, before it was twitchy and nervous, now the front listens and behaves much better.

Beautiful bike to be sure - the Raleigh Record Sprint was also my first road bike, bought in 1985, sold in 2006 - served me well for almost 20 years - cared for it like a baby! Often regret I did not hold on to it.

My new steed, a Felt F4, ultegra. Had its inaugural spin on the 140km Tour de Connemara on Saturday. Only slight complaint would be the saddle, swapped in my old saddle for the Tour, and couldn't have been happier with it, very responsive.

Ive been reading through quite a few posts here and watched the recently posted video showing a hill climb. There seems to be an almost anal amount of attention paid to shaving grams of weight off the bike. Do you actually believe a few grams here and there make any difference, or is it just the way the trend has developed and you dont feel youre a serious cyclist unless youre obsessed with weight savings?

From years of mountain biking, I know weight is important, but a few grams will make no difference at all. Im thinking its pretty much all psychological when youre talking about several grams. It seems some people have seriously reduced the effectiveness of certain components in order to save a gram.

The fact that telling people about what youve done to save weight seems important, says it all really.

The purpose of this thread is for people to post pictures of their bikes and discuss them. It isn't here for you to have a pop at other posters.

    Knock it off.

    Thanks.

dont forget the "I did it because I could" option.
