The left wing of this Kestrel looked a little dodgy, just moulting or in a scrap maybe?

Popped by Boora today on my way back from my first visit to the Little Brosna Callows. There were 15-20 Egrets on the far bank, and Fallow Deer in the flooded fields!

I think this is what I think it is, Coal Fungus.

I remember seeing it on a series of Ray Mears' - supposed to be good for lighting fires.

As normal, open your message window by starting a new thread or replying to a current one.

Then, click the little paperclip icon to open the attachments page.

    Page7.jpg

Browse for the image on your computer, and click Upload. Please ensure that the image is no longer than 800 pixels on its longest edge. You can use something simple like 'MS Paint' - which comes with all PCs - to resize the image.

After it has been uploaded, the filename will be shown under 'Current Attachments'. Right click on the filename, and choose 'Copy Link Location'.

    Page8.jpg

Then go back to your message window. Click on the little yellow icon with a mountain on it.

    Page9.jpg

A little popup box will open, where you paste your image URL.

    Page5.jpg

Click OK, and you should end up with something like this!

    Page10.jpg

Then just submit your message as normal.

If you are planning on uploading photos regularly and on other forums as well, the simplest thing to do is open a free account with an image sharing website like Pix.ie or Flickr or any of the others out there.

    Thanks for the above, whyulittle.

I find a good size for most forums is 640 by 480 pixels (landscape) and the reverse, 480 by 640 (portrait). For square shapes I stick with around 550 by 550 pixels. Generally I have my photos re-sized and saved to my computer before I load them up to Photobucket photo-sharing site. [You can re-size and edit them in Photobucket, but uploading smaller sizes is less problematic than uploading them as very large sizes initially, I find]. Hope that helps!

Also, in Photobucket, you can copy a code starting with IMG that goes directly into most forums.

Very good post whyulittle. Maybe it could be posted as a sticky, seeing it is such a common query?

I have added it to the Archive thread where it can be referenced when needed.

Starling seems spoiled for choice here! :)

    Blackcapcopy_zpsf73baee7.jpg
I'm wondering if this is a blackcap (female)?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,878 ✭✭✭whyulittle

It is a Blackcap, but a male. Females have a brown cap.

You are so right, Whyulittle! I should have remembered that. Glad to know you agree it is a black cap and not a coal tit, which looks a little the same. :)

Or you could also join photobucket.com
Then on your page upload the photos and then copy and paste the img code( it'll be under the pic you uploaded) onto boards thread page and bobs your uncle
