Thank you for refuting MM's retarded comment. Like Brian May didn't touch a guitar before he went to university but then just became a maestro overnight along the lines of Clapton or Blackmore

maybe the fact that they want cakes means it is there fault, therefore they should starve?

They need to start baking cake. During the boom people thought they were growing the cake by building and flipping houses. With cheap credit and incentives there was a huge funneling of resources and labor into the construction industry. That way of growing the cake was unsustainable. The government gave itself a much bigger slice during the boom. Now the boom is over, all that labor and resources of the boom era need to be freed up to be used in more sustainable industry. And the government needs to reduce that huge slice it gave itself based on the unsustainable boom. People need to stop eating the cake and start growing it again. Taking cake from those most capable of growing it for others to consume wont help anyone. With that approach we might all end up queuing in cake lines for a few crumbs.

you can try to avoid teh fact that corporations force laws, like making insurance mandatory, yet letting a private body run it (and if that fails, the government can pay for it). the scrappage scheme. allowing companies to accept payment via direct debt only ... yeah ignore that.
Then elect someone who would not bend to corporate lobbying? Run yourself on a platform of CHANGE :P

    davoxx wrote: »
what are you saying? are you saying that a corrupt government ruled by the wealth is better than a socialist one that might not be?
Socialism results in everyone being equally poor, the rich replaced by an inner party and leader who are even richer, and an outer party who do quite well from this arrangement, everyone else endup as proles.

It has been my experience that the majority of Americans seem to develop their views from sound bites and headlines. The OWS movements original message of fat cats receiving federal money and producing little in the way of creating jobs to help the taxpayers who funded their salvation has now been overshadowed by the view that it has become little more than a big party for kids looking to hook up and demanding something for nothing. More and more I’m hearing the OWS movement now being referred in many circles to as the "FLEA PARTY" - a symbolic nod to a nasty parasite. IMO if the movement wants to keep any semblance of their main message, they should go home now. Perception has been turning against them in recent days, and only getting worse. Here is a sampling of headlines form recent days – not a pretty picture if they want to be taken seriously:

50 arrested in Boston's Wall St. protests
    Thousands protest in Chicago
Ed Rendell to Occupy Wall Street protesters: Go home
    Boston police arrest dozens
Plan 'Millionaires March' on tycoon's NYC homes
    BLOOMBERG: Protesters can stay indefinitely
Business Owners: Protesters Don't Want To Pay For Anything
    EvacuateOnWallStreet?
    NYPD costs rise
Wall Street camp infiltrated by party goers looking for sex, drugs
Guess which President has raked in the most Wall Street bucks in a generation?
    A WINK TO THE PROTESTERS
CAIN: 'Why don't you move demonstrations to White House?'
Bank protesters arrested after trying to cash a $673B check
    Protester defecates on police car
    Pelosi voices support
    Occupy Wall Street's Empty Protests
Park Not Cleaned In 3 Weeks
The 99% Is Taking to the Streets
Bloomberg: 'Occupy Wall Street' Hurting NYC Economy
Sacramento Protesters Unsure Of Why There, Lash Out At Basic Reporter Questions
Pelosi on Protesters: 'God bless them'
Obama, Democrats Plan to Tie GOP to Wall Street
Wall Street protests have cost city $1.9 million in police overtime and counting
Occupy Wall Street Has Little Right Except for Target
Political party paying Occupy Wall Street protesters?
Occupy Wall Street, Powered by Big Labor
    Anarchists for Big Government
Sex and drugs on tap, who says it's not a political partaaay? Occupy Wall Street protesters make love as well as class war

    What about:

    Kent State
    Miner's Strike of the 80's
    Bloody Sunday
    Sharpville
    Battle of Seattle
Practically ever civil rights demo in the US in the 50's and 60's

I find it very cowardly on your part that anyone demonstrating against a Communist government for a fairer crack of the whip is "fighting for freedom" yet anyone doing the same against a capitalist government deserve to be beaten off the streets.

That right there is both hypocritical and the epitome of gutlessness. You would never even question any policies of the US government and its corporate handlers. Your biggest fear is being called names like "commie".

    That really is craven.

so you can't read, as you'll see you have Indian and Mexican and etc mentioned.

this might confuse you, but here goes, people can have money in a communist state. they can also have profit. i know you'd like them not to have profit of money, but fact is fact, and you are wrong.

Socialism leads to fear, fear to the dark side, dark side to capitalism, capitalisms to plutocrats ... actually it does not, but you'd never understand that.

you need to stop and read what was typed.
search the web if you get confused.

Fear and repression is a tool quote familiar to socialists, how else to keep the population caged up in their socialist paradises, just ask the Cubans or North Koreans about it

Can you give an example of people demanding something for nothing?

Any time the government cuts spending or tries to balance the budget, people are out protesting, moreso in Europe than in USA.

I was saying in my post that this movement is something different to that.

"Among the banners and flags are now discarded packets of condoms, cigarettes and bottles of spirits, while naked youngsters happily get together with just sleeping bags covering their modesty".

Cigarettes,, jesus what's next cigars, condoms eh isn't that showing some responsiblity, sleeping outdoors with "Sleeping Bags covering their modesty" Well last time I checked the best way to use a sleeping bag outdoors was to cover yourself with it, not much use hanging it from a fooking railing and starring at it" WTF (who owns that Newspaper???)

Next it will be "shock horror" OWS invaded by the demon drugs "pot", protestors openingly seen smoking pot, wow and if you research how pot was banned in US it shows why money should be taken out of politics.

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”

I was down at Occupy Dame street most of sat/sun, starting to get org and good mix, from pensioners who lost all there money via banks, to students and a lot of ordinary joes, some protestors who looked like they had expereince but for the most part just folk like myself and yourself. Great reception from people just wondering what was going on, supprised a lot knew nothing about OWS

so go down and have a chat with them before you post your opinons on the folk that are down there.

LOL. Read that again... that’s just a nice way they chose to describe all that separates them from the crowds watching em’ do the nasty.

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”

That might be a premature escalation there.

I couldn’t attend the one Phila. With the poor economy and with cutbacks, I chose to put in extra work on the job... I guess that makes me part of the 1 percent?

I think Sean Hannity said it best about protesting when he said

"[They're] expressing their frustration, which I think is quintessentially American,"....

    or was actually

"They hate capitalism" and "really don't like freedom."

Its hard to keep up as the message changes depending on whether you support a group of protesters or not. That is certainly the conclusion I have drawn from this thread.

Whats with the references to Cuba etc?
Like there is either capitalism or North Korea nothing inbetween. This ignores realty and is just a tactic to derail or stop actual debate. A cynical childish one at that.

Some of the people here are really missing the point. Yes, maybe some of the people protesting at Operation Wall Street aren't that elegant, but the bottom line is there are no jobs. Yes, to quote the queen of mean Carly "No one has a God given right to a job", yes that is true, but also no one has a God given right to the protection of their money, assets an inheritance either through natural disaster, technological changes, market crashes, theft or invasion. But we as a society have put together a pretty good structure, but unfortunately it seems to protect and cater to some more than others and society is financially out of balance. How is it that the top 300,000 Americans now enjoy almost as much income as the bottom 150 million. Do the math, that's 0.12% with as much or more wealth than the other 99.88%. Does that sound right? Absolutely not and don't tell me the 0.12% deserve it, do you really believe they work harder than the rest? No, it's just the unbalanced lines of our society and the same society that protects them and their money. The only reason the rich have so much money is because of technological advances - which most of them had nothing to do with, the hard work of many people being marginally paid and the government and the infrastructure around them that the taxpayers have financed. Why is it that Governments are so quick to bail out the likes of Goldman Sachs and Anglo Irish bank, yet others in our society are ignored? Certainly these bankers don't have a God given right to be bailed out after they fail! Why is it that many bankers and Wall Street employees who's companies were bailed out received large bonuses only a few months after being propped up with money from tax payers. Meanwhile many of these same recipients of bailout money protest at National Healthcare and criticize any type of social program and demonize it with the dirty word of Socialism. Yes, Corporations can move jobs abroad where labour is cheaper, but the savings isn't always passed on to the end consumer, since in many cases cheaper labour simply means bigger profits for a select few. What about the millions of people who worked for many of these large corporations - only to learn that their years of hard work and dedication is rewarded by their jobs being transferred to places like China and India not necessarily because the corporation needed to do this to compete, but in many cases because it would ensure greater profits for a select few. The balance of the world’s money has been shifting to a very small elite few and squeezing the rest of us for too long now and I’ve been wondering why people haven’t been protesting in the street about it, maybe things weren’t bad enough to push people that far and many live in a dream world thinking they too can be rich or hope to win Lotto, but reality bites and there is no tooth fairy and eventually there will be a revolution if the balance isn’t restored. Laugh all you want, but there are plenty of intelligent and educated people that are hurting, people that have worked hard all their lives and now because of circumstance have very little to show for it and they are angry and their voices need to be heard. All the elite few have to do is throw the rest a bone once in a while and once people get a little bit of security and when things aren't too bad, they become too preoccupied to protests. However, the elite few are very greedy and in the end that greed will probably be their downfall. This is only the beginning and if real reform doesn’t happen, there will be a financial revolution.

More double-plus-good duckspeak from Comrade Parsons.

You sound like a wind up doll parrotting the drivel drilled into your head.

    Ever been to Cuba?
Ever been to Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia?
Ever been to Sweden or Denmark?

I have. Can't say I've been to North Korea. It is a closed totalitarian state but that has nothing to do with Socialism. In fact you've made it abundantly clear that you couldn't tell the difference between socialism and fcuking botulism so why don't you just stop now. You're making an idiot out of yourself.
