Made a very short trip around to Mr Skeffington today to convert my FCR1 from straight to drop bars. He did a great job :)
    Very happy with it .....

Another angel gets its wings. The SFCR version looks better, even though you photographed the ugly side :)

You might consider using a black saddle and blueish front tyre. Then the colours would go consistently blue-black front-back, and to grey around the BB area.

That's probably a terrible idea though.

    I can see what you're thinkin :)
I've been trying to get blue tyres, the schwalbe ultremo r, but they are out of stock everywhere due to the recall I presume. I will get some though :)
I think 1 blue and one black tyre may look ridiculous though?

    PS Whats the "ugly side"?

The side that doesn't have the chainset on it.

The side with the chainset on it is the bike porn equivalent of the MySpace angle.

Just spotted the sneaky pedal upgrade. Nice.

Looks good. Do you mind telling me how much it cost to do the conversion, including the new shifters, bars etc?

I started cycling this year and bought a Beone of crc during the Jan sales but the frame size was to big(newbie mistake trying to save a few €€). So after a trip to my LBS for a new frame and a few bits I am left with this.

and yes its a triple till my litle legs get strong :o

Ah, I see what you mean :)
What the hell is the myspace angle......actually don't answer that I don't want to know ;)
Sneaky pedal upgrade....check.....to SPD's, one side is flat too for when I'm wearing regular shoes.

OK but it is expensive so put your coffee down so you don't spill it on your keyboard
    1 x Shimano 105 9 Speed Sti shifters (cables included) £152.99 (Ebay)
    1 x Ritchey Superlogic Carbon II Drop Bars Size: 44cm £149.95 (merlincycles.com)
    1 x Deda Blue Handlebar Tape £8.96 (probikekit.com)

You could do it for cheaper if you just went for regular drop bars.
So the lesson is to buy a road bike with drops first, not a road bike with straights and then convert. Though I'm still very happy with my bike :D

Very nice, but why your saddle is pointing to the moon? (maybe it's the angle the photo has been taken) And get some black cable ties for the garmin stuff :p

Its possibly the picture as its seems fine and I keep meaning to change the cable ties just haven't got around to it actually i must acquire some black ties while i think of it ;)

If you are in Waterford I have a big bag of cable ties of all colors including several hundred black ones. So if you need a few....I am in the town.

I think I have seen your bike around alright.

Nice, how do you find it? I was going to plunge for an Anthem X1 earlier in the summer but they were all sold out and went s/h instead.

They are supposed to be one of the lightest F/S framesets out there.

I had anthem aluminium version before. im racing on anthem advanced carbon more than year now and I have to say it's big difference in handling and steering.
carbon frame is much more stiffer and has very good shock absorbtion. im very happy with that frame.
did you check cyclesuperstore in dublin for anthem frame set?
they should have some I think.

if I were you I would wait for that beautiful frame:)
    11m7o6b.jpg
2.1kg for frame, 9.9kg for all bike.
    mine is 2.4kg and 10.6kg.

I did, the only possibility would be to have ordered the X4 and swap out the SLX components for nicer ones (same frame I believe).

That is a good idea. Went with a S-Works epic for the minute, so will see how the next year goes.

How beautiful does it need to be?
Is the eye of the beholder (me) good enough?

I've very happily made a clamp and adaptor plate to make a standard pannier rack fit onto to a disc brake MTB bike with a Topeak pannier bag,
I'll post here at some stage but feel free to tell me mere machining has no intrinsic beauty:)

    Easily fixed- get a mini-pump.

If you don't want to frame mount the pump, you could get yourself one of these or similar (like a Blackburn Airstryke SL also)

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=11313

That way you could carry it in your jersey pocket (they are tiny - but they work)

Has anyone tried the co2 cartridges. I use them and find them great. They fit in a jersey pocket or saddle bag. I never bother with a pump anymore

I just carry a mini-pump, have heard too many stories of them failing out on the road- met a guy on the W200 who was stranded for half an hour until someone stopped with a pump.

blorg swears by them, but he also carries a mini-pump as backup.

Have a CO2 inflator on the road bike (2 spare refills always on board) but take a CO2 inflator/mini-pump on the mtb. No problems so far!
