It _could_ if you persuaded it that the hinternet was not out thru the ADSL port but on the hub (it is a 4 port hub and wireless hub)

You would have to disable the internet (the WAN interface) completely I would wager but maybe not . Have not tried that one but I will if they install a freebie for me for testing purposes .

you could always hard code an ip address like 192.168.100.1 on the ADSL interface to keep it quiet if you could not actually disable it.

By the same logic if it worked with IBB it would work with Metro too.

You will also need to make sure the DHCP server bit of the Netopia ( in the expert config somewhere) did not START assigning IP addresses with 192.168.1.1 as it does now , changing the start of the DHCP range from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.100 will stop that . Do this before it 'conflicts' with the IBB box whose Gateway I will wager is 192.168.1.1

By the same logic you should turn off the DHCP server on the IBB box to 192.168.1.99 so that no address can be assigned twice or other confuzzlement or else turn off the Netopia DHCP but then what happens to the wireless clients ??

actually its called a 2247NWG-EIR and has eircom embossed on top where netopia should be :P

it will work with Smart but you will need to change more settings than username and password . It will not work with Magnet , at all I'd say.

Lots of variables and you can easily run an IP phone without a nailed up VPN , the biggest variable is your uplink speed and 128k is a bit anorexic for all of a nailed up vpn and voip outside that and the other other stuff too.

Its in PLACE of the BT router (xyzel) , box that

to get it working with BT go into the expert settings and on one screen is the pppoe settings (maybe its wan settings and pppoe selected on top)

there is a username and password in there like eircom@eircom.net

change the username and password to (in full not just left of the @) punter@btbb and the bt password

if you still have a problem add a BT dns delow username and password like 194.125.2.240 or 194.125.2.241 for luck

To confuse matters a tad the admin username and password for the netopia is the same as the initial eircom pppoe username and password but you will leave that alone (its on a different screen to the ppoe settings)

thats the only difference between eircom and bt settings, the username and password (and maybe dns needs a hand)
