    26/1

    Crazy stuff from Vijay

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,157 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

A shambolic run out has been missing from what has been a shocking all round performance from India so far this test.

Fielding, bowling, batting, running, all crap.

Anyone think they were to cocky before this test?

Dhawan should have been given there by Erasmus

It was like the win at Lords which was their first away win in 3 years was the height of their ambitions for the summer

They got it wrong on so many counts....Choosing an extra batsman when its the bowlers that take 20 wickets.....Trying to score some 'ego' points in the Anderson - Jadeja saga which preceded this match rather than trying to focus on the real job at hand which is the Test series.....Persisting with Shami and Dhawan when they both really have been poor all series

The only positive that they can now hope for is that both Kohli and Dhawan score some runs tomoro in what is now surely looking like a serious drubbing here and take some form into the remaining two matches

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,384 ✭✭✭booth70

    112/4 at stumps....

Think its the end for Dhawan this series....Kohli skating on thin ice as well:(

Brilliant from Moeen Ali.....his batting has gone downhill but he has picked up some really crucial wickets.....India paying for not giving him enough respect

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,157 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

Kohli will play all series, to be fair he did very well in NZ and SOuth Africa and was one of the few who didn't disgrace himself last time in Australia.

Dhawan and Rohit will be lucky to be retained.

Ali did well, but someone made a good point to me a few months ago when Robin Journeyman Pieterson ripped through them, this team like the Ganguly/Laxman/Sehwag/Sachin/Dravid generation love to attack spinners but unlike them this lot actually get out to them also.

Pleased for him though, very likable guy.

India are doomed here, not sure even Rohit slogging a few runs when the game is over will even be a good thing for India going forward.

England have been pretty clinical all test, done everything right. They deserve this win.

Wow, Dhoni nicks of to a fast bowler overseas.

Anderson been really good all series to be fair.

    India 154-9

Fairly pathetic batting effort from India this morning - looks like it's going to be all over before lunch. I don't think Michael Atherton/Geoffrey Boycott would approve of how India went about their business of batting out the day with 6 wickets in hand!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,384 ✭✭✭booth70

It's one thing getting out to Anderson and Broad but being bowled out by a part time off spinner.... That takes the cake

Must rank as one of India's worst defeats abroad

1-1 sets the series up nicely but India need to recover quickly

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,157 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

India were awful, to be fair on England some promising signs from them with the seniors back in form and Ali doing so well with the ball.

Knowing Dhoni he probably won't do much for the next test although he should, Ashwin and Aaron in and Rohit and Shami out. Pankaj was better than Shami despite taking no wickets, no issue with him getting another test.

They need a fifth bowler, Kumar looks exhausted, he was bowling in the mid 70s ffs, pick Ashwin.

Jordan will be lucky to retain his spot, apart from that no changes unless Jimmy is suspended.

some start by English. India 8 for 4

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

India 8 for 4! A good toss to lose, it's swinging all over the place at the moment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 924 ✭✭✭lambayire

They were saying early on TMS that it might be a good toss to lose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,912 ✭✭✭Washout

it will be 50 all out and the sun will come out for 2 days....then england declare and cloud cover again

On balance I would suggest it's been England's morning ....:pac:
    India 63-5 at lunch

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,241 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

all out for less than 100?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,157 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

Shocking decision by Dhoni to bat first, although twas a fine knock from him.

Anderson deserved more wickets, unplayable at times.

India are doomed here, need a mental morning tomorrow where they take at least five wickets to have even the remotest of chances.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,314 ✭✭✭Gillespy

He was right to bat. After picking Ashwin he wants to be bowling last. They just needed to bat better, see off Anderson and Broad's first spell and the overcast conditions. 8-4 to 152 was a good effort, Dhoni getting half of them.

Kohli has three more goes this summer. Big disappointment so far. If he wants to continued being mentioned in the same breath as Clarke, Amla, AB, Bell etc he needs to do something

Aaron was a bit wayward but rapid. He could click tomorrow. Weather is going to be an issue but is unlikely to save India if they don't have a good first session in the morning.

There was a bizarre incident on Thursday when Sunil Gavaskar checked his blood sugar levels live on air on TMS before he tucked into one of the many cakes the listeners had sent it.

It's not a good place for a cake loving borderline diabetic to be working!

Stuart Broad just top-edged one through his grill onto his nose - looks bad.

He looks concussed. If he is he should really be removed from the game altogether, but I suspect he will return (which, based on my own personal experience of concussions and everything I've since learned about them) would be very risky

Think football is taking that decision away from player and team, completely agree with that idea and hopefully all sports do the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,157 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

Absolutely disgrace India are. Literally have been crap since the end of the 2nd test.

Some effort to pretty much lose a test in three days when the opponents main bowler gets injured for the second innings and half of the 2nd day is washed out.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,770 ✭✭✭Mr. Guappa

India 66-5 with no Broad for England.

    66-6 as I type.

Shocking batting frin India. Looks like it could be an innings defeat before close of play today.

Yep, and again, most of the second day was washed out and Broad can't bowl 2nd innings.

Its an abysmal effort which started from their decision to bowl on this pitch.

Aaron has been good, the rest, rubbish.

Dhoni loses all points for his knock for batting first, crap captaincy and wicket keeping this test.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,241 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

I blame Dhoni for bowling Pankaj and Jadeja after lunch yesterday instead of Bhuvi and Aaron. Really allowed England to press on when they were under a little bit of pressure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,314 ✭✭✭Gillespy

His batsmen have let him down. The toss or bowling decisions haven't landing them in this mess. 8-4 you are always up against it.

Counterattack time now with Dhoni and Ashwin. They have to see out today with the weather forecast.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,157 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

No they should have bowled first, conditions were perfect for bowling. I mean they were knocked over for 150 previous test, what on earth made him think he had the players to bat first?

With Ojha running riot domestically last few years and Saha a quality little player, Dhoni is a waste of time overseas. At least they have to ask is he a better gloveman than Ojha or Saha?

His captaincy is awful overseas as well, could do worse than retire in this format to focus on ODI cricket which he is an ATG at.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,325 ✭✭✭✭Dozen Wicked Words

To be fair to Dhoni, Cook said he'd have batted first and lot of the pundits understood his decision. Stayed overcast longer than expected and spineless batting.

But England put 500 up in the previous game and its their home conditions., while in their last innings they limped to 150.

madness with so many players out of form to bat first.

But they probably would have lost anyways either way.

Anyways they have been rubbish, this is the type of stuff we laugh at Bangladesh and West Indies for.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,314 ✭✭✭Gillespy

Batting first worked for Cook in the Ageas Bowl. After the hiding they took at Lord's and the pressure he was under as an opener and captain didn't change that, it was the right thing to do. Dhoni had to bat first especially after picking another spinner. India simply had to bat better.

England (and specifically Cook) have made it perfectly clear they would have batted first if they had won the toss. The conditions were generally considered to favour batting first, although with hindsight England will be delighted to havs lost the toss in this test.

What exactly is the point in India touring Australia after this except boosting the stats of the Aussie bowlers and batsmen?:confused:

Complete rubbish again this morning, Bangladesh would not have been any worse here.

Well firstly they probably have a number of contractual obligations. However more importantly a change of environment may bring about a change in luck. A lot of sports have an element of momentum to them. In India's case it may be a matter of trying one or two things slightly differently, hopefully benefitting from different conditions. Maybe they will arrest the slide and start to turn things round a little (in the same way England have done)

Good toss to win. Dhoni makes things hard for himself at times but you have to feel for him, he should never find himself batting before lunch two games in a row.

I don't think it matters who goes to Australia this winter with the form and confidence they have.

Oh I know its financially more sensible to host India than say Pakistan, West Indies or sadly South Africa but crikey since the second test they have been abysmal. I genuinely can't remember a more inept touring side maybe them back in 2011 and Pakistan last time they were down under?

Stick Gambhir in the bin, guy is goosed.

Dhawan probably going to be toast in Australia. All their decent bats in domestic cricket e.g Pandey, Tiwary and Jadhev are middle order batsmen so they could do with having a think about getting Rahene to open.

Has opened in domestic cricket his whole career and not as inept against pace as most of the rest.

They will be murdered in Australia, last time Aus toured they got dust bowls, Australia will want green pitches to get their own back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,912 ✭✭✭Washout

bring back sehwag...go down fighting :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

Dhoni's runs made the Indian total just about respectable given the conditions, but India failed to make any impact on the England batting before the close.

It's hard to see India getting anything from the match now. It seems a long time since they took a 1-0 lead in the series.

  • Administrators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 77,534 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Beasty

They should take some positives from the fact they did go 1-up though. It does highlight how quickly things can turn around, and my recollection of many tours they have had in England is the conditions really do not suit them, so who knows what they may be capable of in different conditions with a little more confidence

Its a tough one really that. Yep they won a test and that was great but their collapse in the three after has been abysmal, zero fight bar an innings here and their.

They do look like they have a decent pace bowling attack especially with Yadev in the wings, but again to rain on that parade, neither Ashwin or Jadeja have shone overseas have they?

Batting wise, Vijay bar an LOL run out has applies himself, got out to some pretty awesome bowling, fair enough really.

Rahene is decent although is a rabbit against spin:confused:

pujara is concerning, two shocking overseas tours now. Kohli has gunned it in SA, Australia and NZ, unlike many SC batsmen who travel he is not a flat track bully. He had a stinker of an IPL as well. Its a bad spell I think, all good players go through them at one stage or an other. He can come through it.

Gambhir is done which is probably a good thing for India going forward. He had a peak, scored some runs, done a lot of scowling. Bye bye.

It feels a bit like watching England play Mitch, India against Broad and Anderson, doesn't it?

For England, 3-1 is a good win, and their has been some really good individual performances. Young players have developed while older players have regained their form.

    Negative for them?

They shouldn't get carried away, Australia in 2011 looked a million dollars beating India 4-0 and the next year or two really proved otherwise. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,157 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

So I think its safe to say Boycott does not rate Gambhir

    http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x23t6t2_gambhir-rubbished-by-geoff-boycott-gold_sport?start=4

Shame because he gunned it hard in NZ and South Africa when he was in his purple patch, probably not a great idea to send him to Australia, although for many reasons Australia may disagree. :pac:

Aaron was good today, he is wayward but definitely serious potential their.

Get Yadev back and and have bowl in tandem with Aaron and it will be fun.

Buttler batting nicely as well today.:)

Off Topic but a huge win for India Women in the Test against England Women. Particularly as England are a pro team now. Deserve a lot of credit for that win, but it probably wont register anywhere much.

For the Indian women's team who are really a group of semi-professionals to beat a well funded, centrally contracted , fully professional English team is quite staggering in reality

Well done ladies......Hopefully the morons at the BCCI take notice and start pouring some money into women's cricket in India

.......and it's also time they banned the Indian men's team from travelling abroad....I gave up on them after the last test and they are going to be thrashed at the Oval as well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,157 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

First test match in 8 years, 8 players on debut away to a really strong England side and they chase 182 on a tough pitch only losing 4 wickets, that is a wonderful achievement.

Raj saw them home, she is a superb player, just a shame she doesn't get anywhere near the recognition and riches some of her less talented male stars receive.

Well you could say a reprieve for Root, but equally it was ridiculous for Sharma to be pushing the front foot so far forward - now seems top be giving himself about half a metre of comfort!!

  • Administrators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 77,534 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Beasty

.... and Broad doesn't seem to have any concerns after what happened in the last Test

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,157 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

While it was funny, that was a bad session for test cricket overall.

Just does nothing to see such absolute ineptitude in what is supposed to be the elite format of cricket.

Gambhir, if I said what I really thought of him since his return I would be banned form the internet.

I honestly can't remember when I seen such a wretched session as that. Dire.

At least they may stop picking players on IPL form though.:p

Australian fans seething that he won't be opening down under though. :pac:

Indian Cricket R.I.P ..... The men's team that is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,157 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

    Its very sad isn't it?

No fight, they don't care anymore.

They have shown no bottle at all for three tests.

What makes it more disgraceful and upsetting for Indian fans, yesterday their ladies team secured a fantastic test win by playing magnificent cricket against a superior England team in alien conditions.

Raj is better than this shower of rubbish.:(
