I'm nearly reluctant to commit to any goals for the year given what a writeoff 2015 was in running terms, but I feel like I'm on the road to redemption, so will set a couple of targets.

    1. Sub 5:00 Connemara Ultra. This represents a huge challenge, as it'll be my first ultra, and I'm coming from a relatively low base. I am prepared, though, to put in the hard work, so it'll be an interesting experiment.

    2. Sub 1:20 half:
I haven't ran a half since 2014, if I can tag on a good half sometime, it'd bode well.

    3. 2:4x marathon
Despite a 2:49:00 pb from 2014, I feel like I'm miles away from that sort of shape, so it'll take a huge effort to get back there. I don't have any clue as to where the autumn marathon will be, but I'm not going to run some half baked half fit marathon for my 20th effort at the distance, so will go all out to achieve a good time.

    3. Far more long runs. 2015 was characterised by innumerable 4-6 mile runs, without any pace work. My greatest strength has always been in going long, I need to get back to that.

    4. Continue to keep a good running/family balance. The youngest is now at an age where it's easier to go out for a few miles.

    5. Less junk miles
Despite completing 100 consecutive days running in 2015, it did virtually nothing for me, as 80% of it was short distance, low intensity. It was a slightly ridiculous non-functional goal. There'll be a far bigger focus on quality in 2016.

Savage targets, you must start a log here. Would love to follow your training for that.

Get 5k time down to sub 25 and 10k down to sub 50.

Be more consistent with training and consume less booze/sugar. (As I type this, I'm handed some leftover Xmas apple crumble and profiteroles). :D

Ha yeh our goals are nearly identical...I could probably add sub 60 10 mile to mine too...it's just not a distance I really target. I don't keep a log no

    5km - Sub 20:00
    10km - Sub 42:00
    Marathon - Sub 3:30

I've got the Hong Kong Marathon coming up in January, but worried that it's gonna be a complete disaster. Only moved out to Hong Kong in August, and the weather was a bit of a shock up until a couple months ago. That's also a bit of an excuse, as I really just didn't train enough. Done a few 13/14 mile runs in the past few weeks, but that's the most I've done since August (also picked up a calf injury at a Gaelic match a couple weeks ago). I managed 3:46 in Stockholm last June, but don't think I'll have a chance at beating that time. Still definitely want to get under 4:00 but worried that it will all fall apart for me after 16 miles.

The sub 3:30 goal will be for a marathon later in the year, thinking about doing Seoul in April and will definitely prepare better for that. Especially if HK is as bad as I fear it'll be.

Would like to get my 5km time under 30mins (currently 31min 37sec).
    Try to get 10km time under 60mins (currently 1hr, 4mins, 15sec).

Did a 3km yesterday in 17mins 31sec so I'm ending the year on a buzz and a bit of optimism for the year ahead. 2015 was my year to get into 10kms and did 4 organized races. Have 6 (that I know of) penciled in the calendar for 2016.

    5km - Sub 25
    10km - Sub 55
    Half Marathon - Sub 2:00
Marathon - just do one! I've signed up for Dublin 2016 and am really excited already!

I really only got into running in 2015 and ended up doing 2 halfs, so I've definitely caught the bug! Doing the full SSE series in 2016 along with a few other runs so hopefully I'll stay injury free along the way

    2000 miles (1600ish this year)
    Improve strength and conditioning
Completely knock smoking on the head
    Improve diet and hydration

    5k - 19:30
    10k - 40:xx
    10m - 68:30
    Half - 89:xx

Have put a good month training behind me right now, similar to December 2014 where I kicked on from there for a good first half of 2015, PB's across the board. Second half was messy with injuries, work and life but back on track and hopefully kicking off again.

M: 3:59:59 (or just do one!)
    Weight :< 88kg (BMI < 25)

Provided my current injury problems resolve themselves I'd really like to complete my plans of:

    - Return to September 2015 fitness level
    - Vartry 100mile in sub24
    - Connemara 100, always wanted to do this race since the first time I did my first Ultra.

    10k: 46:12 -> 42:xx
    5k: 22:02 -> 20:xx

Other things don't matter as I've neglected trying to be faster for too long.
Soft targets in most eyes but both sub 7:00 miles avg so would be progress.

Only one timed goal, a 2.59 marathon.

Other goals would be to continue to enjoy and feel greatfull for being out in the fresh air and able to splash in the puddles.
