Karen Gillan has been tapped to star in ABC's Emily Kapnek comedy Selfie.

The modern take on My Fair Lady is inspired by the musical and tells the story of a self-obsessed 20-something woman named Eliza Dooley (Gillan) who is more concerned with "likes" than being liked. After suffering a public and humiliating breakup, she becomes the subject of a viral video and suddenly has more social media "followers" than she ever imagined -- but for all the wrong reasons. She then enlists the help of a marketing expert at her company to help repair her tarnished image.

FX has ordered a pilot for the comedy "The Comedians," starring Billy Crystal as a superstar veteran who is paired with a younger, edgier comic on a late-night sketch show.
"The Comedians" comes from showrunners Larry Charles ("Seinfeld," "Curb Your Enthusiasm"), Matt Nix ("Burn Notice"), and Ben Wexler ("Community, "Arrested Development") who are writers and executive producers, along with Crystal. Charles will direct the pilot.
“It truly is an honor to be in business with Billy Crystal and Larry Charles, two of the all-time greats in comedy,” said FX Networks president John Landgraf. “We have also wanted for some time to be in business with Matt Nix, who has done such an amazing job creating and running 'Burn Notice.' They, along with Ben Wexler, are an unbeatable team and we’re incredibly excited about this project.”
The half-hour, single-camera comedy is produced by Fox Television Studios. Pilot production is scheduled for this summer.

FX has ordered 13 episodes of The Comedians, a half-hour sitcom starring Billy Crystal and Josh Gad, the network announced Wednesday.
The Comedians, based on a Swedish series of the same name, will offer an unfiltered behind-the-scenes look at late-night sketch comedy. Crystal stars as a successful veteran comedian who is reluctantly paired with Gad, an edgier up-and-coming star. The show also marks Crystal's first starring TV role since his role as Jodie Dallas on Soap.
Larry Charles, Matt Nix and Ben Wexler will write and executive-produce the project, along with Crystal. Gad will serve as a producer.
"We're incredibly excited about The Comedians and the fact that Billy Crystal will be making his return to series television on FX," FX President of Original Programming Nick Grad said in a statement. "The chemistry between Billy and Josh is amazing, and Larry, Matt, Ben and Billy did a fantastic job of making what is certain to become one of the best comedies on TV."
The Comedians will air on FX in 2015.

USA Network announced the pick-up of two new drama series, Complications and Rush

From Burn Notice creator Matt Nix, Complications stars Irishman Jason O’Mara (Terra Nova, Life on Mars) as John Ellis, a disillusioned suburban ER doctor who finds his existence transformed when he intervenes in a drive-by shooting, saving a young boy’s life and killing one of his attackers. When Ellis learns the boy is still marked for death, he discovers that his own life – and his outlook on medicine – may never be the same.

Rush meanwhile stars Welsh actor Tom Ellis (Miranda, Gates) as Hollywood physician William Rush, who is described as “not your average on-call doctor.” Rush is highly discreet no matter what the ailment, as long as the client can pay his cash-only premium. The hard-partying, large-living doc has no desire to change his life or how he lives it, until an old flame and his conscience begin to stir things up.

I quite like him and his version of Life on Mars was quiet good and so was Tera Nova.

Go On had potential. Clearly intended as an ensemble but Perry got all the limelight. Mr K is probably one of my favourite non-Community sitcom characters in recent years

NBC announced Monday that it has ordered Aquarius, a late-’60s-set drama in which David Duchovny will play an L.A. police sergeant tracking a low-level criminal and aspiring cult leader who is recruiting young women for his “cause” — and his name is Charles Manson. “The twists and turns of a complicated undercover operation will lead Duchovny’s character and his young partner to the brink of Manson’s crimes that will eventually lead to the Tate-LaBianca murders in subsequent seasons,” according to the network. Manson was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder on 1971 and is currently serving a life sentence in Corcoran State Prison in California.
Aquarius — which was given a 13-episode order before shooting a pilot and is being billed as an “event series” — will be executive produced by Duchovny, writer John McNamara (In Plain Sight, Profit), Marty Adelstein and Melanie Greene. Source

Tom Hardy has partnered with executive producer Ridley Scott for Taboo, a miniseries created by Steven Knight (Eastern Promises).
Taboo, which will consist of eight one-hour episodes, will follow James Keziah Delaney (Hardy), “a rogue adventurer who returns from Africa with 14 ill-gotten diamonds to seek vengeance after the death of his father.” Set in 1813, the miniseries follows Delaney as he attempts to build a trade and shipping empire, a task that puts him in the middle of a war between Britain and America.
“We’re creating a flagship British drama for this generation,” Tom Hardy said in a statement. “A hybrid of orthodox and unconventional story telling, packed with darkness and spirited characters. I think Steve Knight and Ridley Scott are the perfect partners and the BBC the perfect home for this hugely exciting and compelling project.”
Knight, who most recently teamed up with Hardy for the thriller Locke, added: “This man, James Delaney, is a deeply flawed and deeply troubled human being. His greatest struggle will be against the East India Company which, throughout the nineteenth century, was the equivalent of the CIA, the NSA and the biggest, baddest multi-national corporation on earth, all rolled into one self righteous, religiously motivated monolith.”
Taboo is based on an original story by Hardy and his father, Chips Hardy. It’s being produced for BBC One, with Sonar Entertainment distributing the series outside the UK.

NBC has given a 13-episode straight-to-series order to a new half-hour comedy series created by Tina Fey and her 30 Rock collaborator Robert Carlock and starring Office alum Ellie Kemper, TVLine has learned.
Tentatively titled Tooken, the single-camera comedy — set to premiere in Fall 2014 — centers on a woman (Kemper) who escapes from a doomsday cult and starts life over in New York City (where the show will be shot).
Fey (who will not appear onscreen, save for a possible guest appearance) and Carlock penned the pilot script and will serve as EPs alongside fellow Rocker David Miner.
“Tina and Robert, who cemented their partnership on 30 Rock, have created a new signature comedy for us that is audacious, emotional, and clever,” said Peacock Chairman Robert Greenblatt. “While tapping into very relatable themes, there isn’t anything like this anywhere else on television. NBC has been their home for many years and we’re so happy that they’ve found another way to push the comedy envelope for us.”

    http://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/melissa-leo-joins-matt-dillon-night-shyamalans-wayward-pines/

Oscar-winner Melissa Leo has signed onto M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming TV series Wayward Pines. The event series received the greenlight from Fox earlier this month, with an autumn 2014 debut scheduled.
Based on the novel Pines by Blake Crouch, the pilot has been adapted by The Playboy Club‘s Chad Hodge. Dillon stars as Secret Service agent Ethan Burke. When he arrives in the small Idaho town, he is tasked with finding out what happened to two missing federal agents. As expected, all is not as it seems as he winds up with a fistful of questions and no answers in sight.
Leo will play Pam, an “intense, unpredictable” nurse who tends to Burke after he ends up in Wayward Pines hospital. Starting off their relationship nice as (cherry) pie, Pam soon reveals her true colours and the two become enemies.
The show’s creators have acknowledged that Pines owes…well, its central premise to David Lynch and Mark Frost’s seminal cult classic, Twin Peaks. That show focused on Kyle McLachlan’s Agent Cooper. Sent to the small Washington town of Twin Peaks to solve the murder of Laura Palmer he too finds himself grappling with more questions than answers. Twisting, turning and offering up the finest slab of Lynchian you’re gonna get, the show captivated audiences in the 1990s.
Following on from Fox’s previous success with limited event series (a fixed number of episodes for a story arc) The Following, they’ve also added the 24: Live Another Day reboot to their TV slate. You’ve got to wonder why Shyamalan was approached for such a project. The director once synonymous with boundary bustin’ inventive thrillers has lost his clout in recent years. The Last Airbender suffered huge financial losses along with a severe critical beating. His latest feature, After Earth arrives soon in cinemas so we’ll see if he’s sharpened up.
Wayward Pines will premiere on Fox in 2014.
