    Hi guys,

I'm thinking of booking myself in for my driving test soon but, as my car is off the road, I'll be using someone else's.

Now their car is fully taxed insured, up to spec etc but I'm not insured (I've been out of the country for the last year so my insurance has expired and with my car broken at the moment I haven't renewed insurance as I haven't been driving since I got back a few weeks ago).

My original plan was to get my car fixed, insurance etc and then book in but it's gonna be a while before i can afford to fix my car and i don't want to pay €600 - €800 for a years insurance i'll barely be using. I also don't want put off taking my test any longer as I should have taken it ages ago.

Basically what I'm wondering is can I get insured for just the day of the test either on my own or on someone else's policy?

    Thanks
    C.

Use a driving schools car for the test might be the easiest way to do it.

As suggested one option is the Instructor's route, which I would recommend as you need to make sure your driving is up to standard especially after being away and not driven here for a while.
Secondly ask someone to enquire off their insurance to add you as a driver for a short period week or month it may not cost a lot, but still get lessons.
