I've always wanted a Maxima, I just wish they were RWD though.
166man, you ever been in one? It like a couch. Not mad fast but more of a surge forward.
About 25mpg which ain't too bad but not economical in the least.

I'd still buy it over the Volvo but well, there's a lot of favouritism going along with that.

I was in the same one twice as a taxi a while back, it was a manual too and in Silver. It was fabulously comfortable alright, but the interior was quite poor I thought.

Didn't take much notice of how it go down the road though. Far from economical I'm sure it was.

However if I wanted something comfortable and economical Is have the Volvo though, everytime.

To be fair I've been in S Class taxis that felt like Micras. :pac:
Sure it's be boring if we all liked the same thing and I'm stupid with my money. :p

    I never made the comparison

Tbh €750 difference would put a lot of petrol in the tank of a bangernomics motor though or even pay 12 months motor tax and full half a tank

You didn't take into account the fact that the diesel will almost certainly be worth more than the petrol come resale time.

Also is the 1.8 in the one you linked not the vastly inferior GDI Mitsubishi engine?

No it not a Jap import. you could but these new here with a 1.8 and it's actually a QG18DE engine :)

Sure about that? AFAIK Europe only got it on 1.6 and 2.0DE?

I'm taking into the fact that to qualify for this thread the car must be below 2000€

Also as with most bangernomics I'd hope that I get until the next NCT out of it upon which time I either spend more or bin it. At this end of the market I'd expect to bin it.

As for it running a GDI engine I may be mistaken but I've never heard that they did.

On top of all that I never made the link with the diesel V40 so why are you?

Tbh I think all of those generation S and v40's were shyte. I've test driven the diesels and found them dead and dated inside. They can give painful amounts of trouble but as a bangernomics purchase where you spend as little as possible they may make sense.

Hardly worth you getting so bothered about them is it?

Yes 100% sure. even my neighbour had one a few years back:p.
The engine in them is a QG18DE lean burn engine though.

    That wont last long!
Do you mean that it'll be sold quickly or that the car is approaching it's last legs?

For that price, it is a handy reliable second car or even an only car for a family. Years left in it (on the face of it anyway)
Good solid workhorse bangernomics stuff there johnboy, my kinda bangernomics!

Usual 166 niggles eg shot bushes, wheel bearing, rad, leaky cabin would be my guess
