Cheers man, needs a good machine polish though, its pretty swirled :o

    I used:

    Cleancar.ie supa snow foam,
Wheels cleaned with iron x and verry cherry acid free wheel cleaner.
Washed 2bmwith dodo juice sour power,
Used iron x on wheels and paint,
    De tarred with tardis,
Clayed with the cleancar.ie clay, used demon shine as lube,
applied Britemax Black Max via D/A,
Then applied 3 thin layers of Britemax vantage wax over the next 2 days.
Used CG extreme vrt dressing for the exterior plastics.

Did all that last week, just washed it today again :)

YES! We have another OCDer in the house!!!

By the way, here OCD means Obsessive Car Detailing ;)

Also, with all you've done to it so far, you can become a proper Beadophile!

I haven't washed my car in 2 weeks! I might do it tomorrow if the weather suits. My problem is that I have to wait until about 6 before I get enough shade in the area I do cars :(

What do VW charge for colour coding the bumpers?
You'd think it'd be standard on a "premium" model.

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,854 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

I'm of the opinion that Gollywog took photos of his car then doctored them to make it look red. Tal has just gone and un-done all his work and brought the car back to its original colour!

I think it adds to the look to be honest it ties in well with the black skirts, the car would look worse it it was all red, I don't think it has to do with being "premium" or not

Was looking at getting some of the britemax duo for the red one when it arrives. Do you find it easy to use?
Do you find it adds anything to the "Redness" of the paint?

I cant reccomend it highly enough vectra, goes on just so easily and buffs off the same. It made my paint look richer for sure :)
    The blackmax is great too

After changing out the entire front suspension and steering components, I threw the 18" Brabus reps (that had left over from another car) on the Merc and spent some quality time with the Zaino car polish system (as it said to be, its the best there is IMO).

The 560SEC cleans up well and almost drives perfect now, just a bit more to do:

1987 and yes, of course, just not like in the next few days. VRT isnt expensive on these anyhow.

The car's looking great, man. Not 100% on the wheels though, some period alloys would be more my thing but sure what ever you're into. :)
What kind if power does that V8 put out?

Strokes for folks I guess, I think it cheapens the look of the whole car.

I much prefer these wheels to the other reps (fake versions of original crappy 16" with wrong offset, look like hubcaps) that were on it, but as noted I already owned these, I didnt buy them for this car at all, they happened to fit.
When I buy wheels for it they will be dished AMG type period or similar.

Power? I thought you knew all about it from AE86 sniping! :p
Its not 230bhp, this is the 300bhp UK version, though the car is actually a Korean import to the UK. The engine is a SOHC antique but puts out 336ft/lb of torque and when revved sounds like a muscle car.

I missed it in that discussion but I was thinking back to that. :p
Jesus that car has been right around the world at this stage. :o

It'll look great with some dishes AMG "disk" style ones. I'm sure you know what I mean. :)

That is stunning Matt. I wish I could get my black cars as shiney....I've a Kestrel polishing machine kit I got last year and only used the first time the other day but I'm not sure I'm doing it correctly as the finish isn't half as good as yours.

I wouldn't know where to start with that engine! Probably simpler to work on than modern stuff.

Nope as I'm a lazy git that way! Also I'd prefer to be at mechanics than polishing but I want a proper detailed car too so just have to stick at it, unless you want to do it?!! :)
