I downloaded mass effect off steam today and it wont start up. I checked the system requirements before I downloaded it and they were fine. When I click play its say preparing to play mass effect for a second and then nothing happens, any ideas?

Not too sure if the steam version comes installed with the patches already but to make sure, go to mass effect website and download the latest patch. I remember having a similar issue until I downloaded the patch.

    saw this on steam forums

"Don't run the game in compatibility mode, right click on the Steam launcher and tick the "Run this program as an administrator" box in the properties. Do the same thing for the Mass Effect launcher. This is also mentioned on the store page."

edit: also read steam version doesn't include the latest DirectX driver. Maybe head to directx site and download the latest one.
