    This Meteor BB To Go Hotspot for €89.00 Euros I am told has an Indoor Maximum Range of only 10 to 12 metres it runs on a rechargeable battery no mention how long it lasts

    Three Network has a similar device aswell anyone have one of these gadgets?

    It depends EXACTLY which part of a mast you are on. 3 people that watch video makes a dramatic difference.

    This is a Portable WiFi Travel adaptor to allow WiFi Gadgets to use 3G/HSPA. These are very poor (no matter who makes them) compared with a full WiFi Home/Buisness/SoHo Router

    These are handy for car or hotel room, or to add Internet to WiFi gadget such as Archos, iPad, Nintendo DS or Sony PMP. A waste of money for laptop or home use.

    What performance you get depends on EXACTLY where you are, not primarily the Area or Operator and 2 months later can be the same or rubbish depending on what new customers using data are in the same place. It's a Mobile Phone network and phone calls get priority and make the data slower.

    has anybody tried this? would this be good enough to use wifi on iphone 4,laptop and xbox 360 nintendo etc...?

    Not good for Gaming. Latency is 80ms to 2000ms, high jitter with disconnects and low cap. Speed is 0.05Mbps to 5Mbps+ and can vary rapidly.

    They are short Range WiFi and limited by the "midband" nature of 3G.

    It's useful "on the go" to connect an Nintendo, Archos, iTouch or other WiFi only portable gadget that has no ethernet or 3G/Edge to Internet. It's useful when travelling.

    It's a poor product for home/office use, especially poor for Laptops, xbox and multiple users. See http://www.techtir.ie/comms/mobile-vs-fixed to see why mobile is worse on average than slow broadband.

    I made one myself out of a Linksys 54G3G about 3 years ago and tested it listening to WiFi Radio on an Archos 605 PMP driving around Dublin. On 3G you'd use up the Cap quick.
