oh i have a classic here,
    just thought of it:

the red car and the blue car had a race
all the red car could do was stuff his face
    he eats everything he sees
    from trucks to prickly trees
but smarty blue he took the milky way...

    anyone remember it?

    Actually its:

The Red Car and the Blue Car had a race
All Red wants to do is stuff his face
    He eats everything he sees
    From trucks to prickly trees
But smart old Blue he chose the Milky Way
He's looking for a tasty treat, fluffy and light
'Cos he knows it won't spoil his appetite

Oh no, the bridge has gone
    Old Red can't carry on
But smart old Blue he chose the Milky Way

    Then there was the:

The Sattelite and the meteor had a race etc.

Same idea, another milky way ad

It was for Scotch video tapes. 'Re-record, don't fade away. Re-record, don't fade away...'

I wish someone would put some Irish stuff up on there too. That would be cool!

    Not a hope.
How many websites to you see devoted to archive Irish television?
We're supposed to rely on our memories. Websites and archive DVDs are for everyone else.

The song is still stuck in my head from the old milk add - with the skeleton and the young lad "a childs got more bones than a grown ups got!"

oh and the dime bar adds "arrrrrrmadillos!!!!!!!"

I always thought it was funny when you were watching a film that you taped off the tv years ago and all the old adverts that were on back then.Half the time I'd stop just for the sake of it. Even the different graphics for the channels.

I always tried to edit out the breaks when taping films.
Regret it now when I rewatch films/programmes I recorded off TV in the late 1980s.

    Kimberly, Mikado and Coconut Creams,

    Beany and Barney.

The safe cross code with Judge the Dog.

Little boy going to get his frisbee half way up an ESB pylon. (more of a public service announcement.) Often died just before Popeye was on before the Angelus.

Sally O Brien and the way she might look at ya.

Sam Spudz. Cartoon ad if I remember right.

How do they get the figs into the fig rolls?

The ESB ad where a guy has to get up in the middle of the night coz his child is crying and the song playing over it is "OOoonnly yoooouu..can da make the darkneessss bright..". We just remember it as kids coz the guy looked like a relation of ours.

Or there was the Bord Na Mona ad where the Dad brings home the son from college/the big smoke and the mother's there waiting for him. for the fire on. Oh no... was that for Telecom Eireann? Ah I dunno..

Was there some programme that used to show these old ads and take the p*ss outta them. Like on The End or Blizzard Of Odd??

True, much more effective than the current 'snuff' ads.

    ??
    I think I'm going back
To the things I learnt so well in my youth
    I think I'm returning to
Those days when I was young enough to know the truth
    Now there are no games
    To only pass the time
    No more colouring books
    No Christmas bells to chime
But thinking young and growing older is no sin
And I can't play the game of life to win

is this the tune from it?

    Lol, these are great...! :p

One ad I remember well from a long time ago is a coca - cola ad... not many people seem to remember it so maybe someone here could help me out.

Basically I remember it as a kind of fantasy version of what goes on in a coke machine..

I remember it involved this OTT process where a glass was filled with coke, Ice came down this twisty chute and popped into the glass and the glass emerged frosted out of a small glass door with a sound clip of the coke tune playing...

Bear in mind this is as foggy as hell to me because it must have been 10 years since I saw it...

    Anyone any ideas?

Back in the days of ESB powercuts there was an ad where the screen was black for 30 seconds.

Then a voice "this 30 seconds of darkness was brought to you by guinness"

I'll say it again - that kit kat add with the sheepdog

and all of the Hamlet ads.

The Martians on the Smash ad.

A finger of fudge is just enough to give your kids a treat.

or that smarmy little blonde brat "the milky bars are on me!"

Is it a biscuit or is it a bar.

also remember the awful adverts they used to have for Kellogs country store.
