Hey,

I'm headin to a music festival tomorrow and have a big bag and tent to carry. I'm only booked in for 1 piece of luggage so I was thinking I'd stick the big bag underneath the plane and carry on the tent. Anybody done this before?

Poles and pegs would go into the bag being checked. Think all the rest of the tent is cloth/plastic except for the tiny metal key type things that are attached to the tent that the poles go into. It should definitely be under their 10kg limit and inside the 55cm x 40cm x 20cm size limit (although it's round of course). I can't see any reason that they'd stop my bringing it on but this is Ryanair we're talking about

Anyone got any advice?

The steroid doesn't come in an original container. It is a foil pack of 4 small tablets. I never said I wanted to wave it around at security or hold things up. Having traveled quite a bit with small children I appreciate getting through security quickly. All I wanted was to have some official documentation for his father to have incase there was an issues. So calm down there.

Tatranska that is a great idea thanks for sharing. I've never had to travel with any kind of medication before so it's all new to me

The fact that it's medication only becomes an issue if it involves liquid in a >100ml container in which case some proof like a pharmacy receipt would be required. Nobody cares if it's toothpaste, mascara or medication if the container is less than 100ml so there will be no need to produce a letter.

I appreciate that you want to play it safe but waving a letter at the security people will only hold things up, just shove it the transparent bag if it's less than 100ml and they will be fine.

And for the steroid, leave it in the original container showing the manufacturer's name and there will be no issues. People take medication through security every day of the week and don't get stopped.

I usually get a print out from my pharmacy of the drugs I'm on which I'm traveling with.
It costs nothing and is an official record of what I'm carrying.

Regardless of airline, to get through security with liquid above 100ml for a medical purpose you will most likely need a medical note. However i don't see there being a problem with inhalers, they are generally quite small too and taking you should be fine, just bring them along and place them in a plastic bag like liquid.

I've never had an issue taking my inhalers. Just put them in a clear bag and it's all good. I'm not sure about the mask, no harm in ringing them to be sure ..

I've taken mine on every flight, put it through the security scanner and all. Never once had an issue.

Yeah. You can bring a cabin bag as well as your checked in bag. They might offer you the option of putting the cabin bag in the hold as well if you want. No extra charge. They did for me anyway! Its handy if you dont have anything in your cabin bag you need during the flight.

Yes 5 10kg bags you can bring in the cabin regardless of what you have in the hold and also allowed one small bag approx the size of 200 cigarettes and a litre of spirits in size per person.

Baggage allowance allows one cabin bag and small bag.
5 people in our party.
This means we can nominate 5 cabin bags between us yes?
There is no connection to the bags in the hold I take it as these bags have been paid for separately.

Howdy all, im heading to copenhagen next weekend and i cant seem to find out much info regarding bringing tents as carry on luggage.

Ive both a popup tent and a tiny 1 man jobbie, the 1man has poles and the popup would be all self contained.

Cheers, that can only be used for short periods of time, we need to cover three flights of 1 hr, 12hr and 8 hrs combined with a 9 hour layover. Its the 9 hours in HK that is the biggest issue with the heat for the time of year
