Most of the online quotes I was getting from brokers were in the same range, starting from around 1300 Eur and upwards
Called a couple of them, over the phone they would offer quotes in the range of 1100-1200 with higher excess than Aviva and step back NCB cover only

Aaran insurance said the best they could for renewal is 1240 Euro after I gave them a ring

Received my renewal quote from 123, was 590Euro

Told them i'd been quoted 520 from The AA and that i'd stay with them if they matched it, the girl put me on hold for maybe 10 seconds then dropped my renewal to the 520

Just an update to this:

The cheapest quote my partner got was €3300 for a 1.1 c3 with axa.
Ended up looking around for Insurance for myself and her as a named driver.
Bought our little c3 got insured with axa for 1950.
I've only got a leaner permit for just over a year, its pretty crazy that I can get a much cheaper quote than her despite the fact I've only got a learner permit!

Axa seem to be the only insurer that would insure someone whose been in the country less than a year in case anyone else is interested.

Bank of Ireland were cheapest for me this year. Didn't even know they did insurance until I saw this thread.

Have been with 123.ie for years but they were looking for €150 more than BOI.
Last year I had a 00 Merc CLK with a 2.3L engine and my premium was €500. I changed mid year to a 08 Citreon C4 1.4L and got a few quid back.

Last week they emailed me a renewal looking for €600, despite me having a newer car with a smaller engine. I got a quote on the website as new customer of around €500. Got BOI for €445. No interest either for paying monthly and smaller deposit too IIRC which is a bonus.

Seeing the thread here It seems other people having the same problem as me.
Got quoted last year on a new Honda civic for 480euro and now this year cheapest quotes have jumped to 680euro.
Car is a 1.6 Diesel and I have over 10 years No claim bonus with no penalty points and no disqualifications.
Big Insurance companies like Liberty and Axa quoted me 1800euro, As a 35 yr old driver, that's mental! What am I a 17 yr old boy racer?.
Surprised this isn't in the news but with a Dublin gang feud and Irish water, I suppose it's not worth a mention.
