is there any possibility of signing up for amazon prime for Ireland

I ordered from amazon fairly regularly, on average once every 1-2 months. I have heard about amazon prime and want to avail of it. I know it has 1 day shipping for the UK, which would be very expensive here, but they might have 2 day shipping which wouldnt be as expensive.

Is amazon prime in Ireland?

I've been wondering the same as I use Amazon a lot. I've just signed up for a free Prime trial, I'll report back if it is worth doing or not. I suspect there is no point in doing it in Ireland but since the 1 month trial is free I've nothing to lose trying it.

As suspected there is absolutely no benefit to signing up to Amazon Prime if you live in Rep Ireland. Funny thing is that it actually makes delivery more expensive as due to some glitch it removes the free super saver option so they start charging for delivery. I cancelled the trial but I have to wait a month for the free month to end, as a result I had to create a new account to avail of free delivery!

So in effect you are guaranteed delivery will be always 3.50 and a couple of days.

I had trial for three months and used it numerous times ordering on a Thursday so that I'd receive the item in parcel motel on a Saturday morning. Thats pretty quick and it only cost me 3.50.

Which can be useful, depending on the amount of orders you make a year the 49 for the full prime membership could still be worth it.

We order a lot from Amazon, as regularly as every two weeks or more. I saw their free month's trial which now includes on demand video like Netflix so I thought I would try it but the videos are giving the error 'This video isn't available due to geographical licensing restrictions' even when I am connecting using a UK VPN and I have changed my billing address to the UK. It seems Netflix US are much easier to fool as that just requires you change to a US address and use a US VPN.

I have read Amazon Prime's Instant can be fooled like Hulu Plus if you use a US or UK credit card, which can be done easily enough following guides online, but I just cannot be bothered when with a little research all of the content available they offer is available at our fingertips at maximum quality elsewhere without a recurring fee.

I think I am going to cancel Prime as it does seem like a waste of money for people living in the Republic. We usually order in batches of over £20 to avail of free super saver delivery already, and the only benefit I can see membership yielding is free delivery from market place sellers and I am not even sure it covers that.

It could prove beneficial to businesses that are willing to pay €3.50 to Parcelmotel each delivery in addition to the Prime subscription and businesses that need stuff in two or three days rather than in a week's time etc. That said, I think Amazon already offer that service to the Republic of Ireland for a fee, and they are probably faster.

Fastest delivery Amazon offer to Ireland is two day which costs over 14e plus,

So if you order alot of stuff from Amazon and need items in 2-3 days and are prepared to also pay for parcelmotel then prime + parcel motel is the way to go.

if you order alot it would be cheaper then even Amazon's standard delivery service in the long term and certainly cheaper then two day delivery

Once of course you are still talking about people who need items in 2-3 and are prepared to pay for some sort of delivery.

Those who just order a lot but can survive waiting a week etc are best advised to steer clear of Amazon Prime, only order over £20 to avail of free Super Saver Delivery, and save the current £49 subscription (and whatever it will go up to next year when the offer expires, I think it is £75?), and save the Parcelmotel £3.50 charge for every deliver.

To be honest if you are a business person ordering enough from Amazon to justify the expense you should probably try cut Amazon out and order directly from the source.

Just for anyone else, if you sign up for the prime trial you can cancel it straight away - you'll still get your free trial, it simply won't auto-renew when the trial lapses.

If there is really no benefit of prime membership to Irish customers, could I argue for a refund or at least a proportional refund to them?

Contact them and ask for a refund. There shouldn't any issue if you didn't use it.

Actually just canceed there and there's an option to get the refund for the time that's left.

Still stupid to sign people up for something they can't benefit from though.

If you didn't use it you can contact them and get the full amount refunded.

You don't even need workarounds for some benefits, Kindle Lending Library and the unlimited photo storage works fine in Ireland. If you got benefit of say uploading 1TB of photos to the storage then it would work out better value then dropbox for the year

Clarkson said the grand tour would be available to people in 200 countries across the world in December and Amazon did a quite no fanfare launch of prime in Canada and Australia and now it looks like they have done the same in Ireland. I signed up for prime last night , the warning that amazon video/music and landing library arent available in your country is gone and I spent last night watching videos and listening to music on prime. Im not using a VPN either

I tried last night using a Fire TV stick but also seems to work in the browser. Only the Prime original content played without issue for me - the licenced stuff threw the geo restriction error. Still, it´s some improvement over restricting everything.

I forgot to cancel Amazon Prime last Christmas myself- I just checked it there now , it's due for renewal on 24th Dec, I took my card off the system so says unless I update method of payment it will not automatically renew. I looked up getting a refund, but they would give you a refund minus the cost of shipping I'd saved, and as I'd bought stuff like ironing boards, cat litter etc my 'free' shipping would have added up, so it was hardly worth cancelling.
Was very interested to read I could use the Videos/ Tv shows, as they never worked before. Same as above poster, I can watch Clarkson & Co. (i'd rather not though) but not much else.
I won't be renewing, I'd say a substantial percentage of their prime members are people who forgot to cancel. I got good value on some household items, but that 'good value' was negated through the occasional impulse purchase.
