Yeah the Armagh thing is interesting. Maybe they just don't have the players although they did seem to be improving a couple of years ago.

Can't recall who it was but Armagh chap on radio during Louth game seemed to suggest that Cross had sucked the life out of them, and a bit like Dublin vis-à-vis Leinster maybe, that everyone else had dropped off.

Now that Cross have fallen from their majestic heights they have worst of both worlds: No longer have their class of players and overall club standard has dropped. Their underage teams have been quite poor I think?

Pity, because they were some team in their prime, and probably didn't fully realise their potential. Again, a lot to do with Cross concentration on winning the club.

I'm not convinced about 'Geezer' as a manager myself. I was going to do a subjective appraisal but would struggle to hide my bias so won't bother.

Ah g'wan. It will be a refreshing change from those adoring pieces by the Barry Egan types (usually accompanied by a photo of him in Conor McGregor's gym, looking fierce intense like,) banging on about what a fearsome warrior he is. It's the middle of May, so we should be due another one in the Sindo fairly soon. :rolleyes:

His record with Armagh to date is he got them promoted out of Division 3 last year, lost to Donegal and Galway and beat Wicklow in the championship, got relegated back down to Division 3 this year. Would anyone be a bit surprised if Cavan beat them and they exited the qualifiers at an early stage this summer?

The lads in the Sindo would want to get their skates on as I could see Geezer being on his way out of Armagh very soon no matter what sort of 5 year deal he has.

I doubt it. There is such a cult of personality surrounding around the man, if they have an early championship exit, the blame for it will be laid else where.

Ha ! Funnily enough. There's a newish housing development in Malahide called Coill Dubh. It's just down the road from the Sylvester's pitches. Another shower that could give Kofi Annan a run for its money in all the stamps on the passports. :rolleyes:

Impressive enough performance. Looked confident on the ball and even just comparing tonight to the Walsh Cup it is evident that Dublin are in different universe to Wexicans and are moving further away.

Cats is perfect game for them next, rather than Galway. I reckon stripey fellas be caught this year, and Dubs get first shot. Shot to nothing. Throw the kitchen sink at it.

I'm all for the style Cunningham is trying to implement but lads need to realise there's a time and place for just clearing your lines. Too many times we're caught trying to be clever. Good teams ruthlessly exploit stuff like that.

You can never say you're confident going into a game with Kilkenny but I think we'll run them close.

Jayzus. That's a great result. Am deeply embedded behind enemy lines in Listowel. The locals are all mad for talking about the hurling. But I'm having none of it....even if it's on the telly in the pub & this is hurling country. I keep changing the subject back to the league & AI finals. It's a tough job, but someones gotta do it !

I passed the Kerry hurlers bus in Newcastle West, going wherever it was they were going. I may or may not have gotten a dig in about the footballers bus getting lost, as we're all still waiting for them to show up at Croker. The night is still young. I'm saving Kev for my knock out killer blow, piece de resistance, pincer movement, when they are at their weakest point. A bit like Kev himself !

I thought we were poor enough and never got out of second gear so that'll tell you how good Wexford were. There's definitely a lot more in us then we showed today.

There was no turnout. Only 13,000 there.

Dublin were good. Wexford were as bad as I've seen them in 40 years.

Hard to believe we only beat them once between 1964 and 1990 in any thing, and then not again until 2009, other than one league game. Since then we've won 10 of last 11.

They hadn't even a bit of badness in them.

They are my second favourite team so take no pleasure in their plight. They be back. Minors are good, and they've had good 21s.

Up the yllabellies.

Thank god we shot of liam Dunne he can't even hold down a 9 ta 5! At least next manager we get wont be dependent on the GAA for his pay cheque! Fact

Only thing i'd have noticed tonight was curious unWexford lack of bite. They dropped the heads very early and even Dunne seemed resigned to it from an early stage.

Anyway, best of luck for the next one.

He looked like a man who realised that the jig is up. Wexford have gotten their act together underage and that will come through. Seems to be a fair bit of dislike towards Dunne, so am guessing this be the end of him. In fairness he took the job when no-one else wanted it and at their lowest ebb. Got some good results, notably beating Clare in 2014, but I reckon they need a change.
