Euros would you go now?

First off not getting into a PC debate I now the vast majority of Muslims are not terrorists however it's a fact the vast majority of terrorists are Muslims.

We have the events in Germany on new years eve hundreds of women sexually assaulted and many raped.
This is an ongoing problem in Germany and Sweden that is brushed under the carpet for PC reasons.
Sexual assaults in public swimming pools in Europe.
In the past two years we have had two attacks in Paris.
The attacks in Brussels.
A Russian plane blown out of the air leaving Egypt.
A hijacked Plane from Egypt landing in Cyprus a couple of months ago.
The Plane from Paris to Cairo yesterday looks very much like another Islamic terror attack.

Apart from the PC brigade others will cite the low chances of being caught up in a terror attack and this does not wash with me as we all know the 2016 Euros are a prime target and we all know it.

My question is knowing all of the above would you feel safe attending the tournament in France this year or bringing your family?
I am traveling to another European destination during the opening week of the Euros and I will admit it is a concern.

If I were interested at all in soccer and had tickets, of course I would. Not going is letting them win. I mean, realistically the security around these places are going to be at the highest and will likely be among the safest places in the world.

I was thinking public transport or areas of Paris in which crowds are out trying to enjoy themselves.

will be going as I am so sick of getting constantly raped here in Germany that getting blown up for a change sounds like the change of scenery that I need.

so yea, will be going, but only have a ticket for the game in Paris seeing as I am probably going to die and no use in wasting money on any further games after that.

I'm not going to the Euros, but I'd go in a heartbeat if it would do anything to shut up right wing anti Muslim loons with blatant agendas and get them to sell their bigotry elsewhere. But it won't, such is the free society we live in.

I am cautiously optimistic about Ireland this year - we are a lot better off then we were in 2012.

I'll be in France, during the Euros but at another massive sporting event, so I'm kind of glad that the euros is there to take the heat away from this event to be honest.

I had a family member who was on a flight to Brussels the morning of the attacks.
The flight was diverted to Amsterdam.
That family member would have had a similar outlook to yours.

However I think the events of that morning was a wake up call and I don't think this family member would tempt fate.

Why are they picking on France? Isn't London a more obivious target, and why do they pick planes, you could drive a load of Semtex on a ferry easily enough and get a way bigger body count.

I've had family members killed and injured in terrorist attacks, I've been involved in more bomb alerts than had hot dates, and it hasn't changed my outlook. You don't let the bastards win.

I'd be very surprised if there isn't some sort of attack planned in Paris during the Euros. Security will undoubtedly be extremely high at the matches themselves but like last November's attack shows, you don't have to get into the stadium itself to murder a lot of people. Hopefully the police and intelligence agencies will be able to pre-empt and stop anything planned but I'd be very wary of attending. That said I lived in London during the terrorist attacks and attempted attacks and just got on with life. I couldn't even understand it when visiting friends didn't want to go to the tourist sights we'd planned on taking them to the weekend after the 2007 attempted car bombings. So I can understand why people aren't willing to let the possibility of an attack stop them from attending.

The hijacked plane to Cyprus wasn't terrorism. I think there are enough events to use already without trying to pad it out.

Find football boring so wouldn't go anyway, if it was an event that interested me I would still go. More likely to be killed on the way to the airport.

I'd come to terms with the fact that I didn't get any tickets and that I wont be going.
But this thread has revived my interest in going.....not in a way that I want to go for the scare mongering danger aspect, but because I want to get in the spirit of a european football tournament and support our lads.

I have flights, hotel and ticket. To not go would be a concession of defeat to the very terrorists who keep you awake at night.

I was in Poland four years ago to see Ireland destroyed by Spain. Now that was an act of terror.

The most embarrasing part of that game, was our "greatest fans in the world getting praised for singing when losing 4 nil" These same folk would rather watch Man Utd on tele than an Irish side play!

The amount of remarks we got for walking around in LOI tops by Irish fans was laughable
