The MXQ Pro Quickplay, the Q-Box and the MXV+ run Android 5.1 and the MXII Pro runs Android 4.4. The MXQ Pro Quickplay and the MXV Plus have RAM/ROM of 1/8. The MXIII Pro has 2/8 and the Q-Box has 2/16. The Q-Box, MXIII Pro are dualband, 2.4ghz and 5ghz, the MXV Plus is single band 2.4ghz and I'm little unsure of the MXQ Pro Quickplay, some info. I read says its dual band some say its just 2.4ghz. Of course I'm worried about the S905 chip after Allyall's advice but then when I look at the specs. of the S812 box it is only running Android 4.4. So I'm leaning towards the Q-Box with its 5ghz and its 2/16 of Ram/Rom. What do you think, is that the right choice bearing in mind I'll be using it a lot for IPTV? And if anyone has any Geekbuying discount codes that would be appreciated too. Regards

Regards Good post, I noticed that q-box a while back and thought it looked like good value for money, I wonder what the wireless is like on it? in my setup, I like to use it wireless as opposed to wired, as using it wired requires running a cable around a fireplace and looks untidy. With this in mind i bought the minix x8h+ and thats worked fine so far.I'll be using this box in a different room but same conditions apply. Are the S905 chips really buggy?

Yeah, the Amlogic 800 series can only run Android 4.4, there are no SDKs released by Amlogic to run anything higher. As for the Amlogic 900 series, only some of them support VP9 - which is what high definition youtube broadcasts in. For that reason, the s905 is out for me, I'm going to wait for Amlogic S908 / S905M / S905X or preferably the Amlogic S912 with the h265 encoding.http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-support/amlogic-based-tv-players/563015-amlogic-s912-is-here-with-android-6-0-octa-core-cortex-a-53-vp9-support

None whatsoever, very difficult to trust a lot of what is advertised on Alibaba etc, some of them have ridiculous specs, like this one with a s912 AND S905 chip , then when you scroll down to the main details it has a Rockchip RK3368 chip , iba wrote: » Although I guess it won't be common in boxes until at least Q4. The S805 was announced by Amlogic in October or so and as far as i can see only hit Android boxes in January. So, as the S912 is only being released, it's still not listed on Amlogic's own site, i would see it hitting Android boxes by late Quarter 3 - in times for Chrstmas anyway:P.

As the devices don't have a battery to keep the time, setting them on auto normally the device gets the time from the ISP (NITZ) on each boot up. Works fine with most ISP's but it doesn't appear to work for people with Vodafone home broadband as it's not sending the time. There might be another way to fix that properly but for now I've just used a clocksync app. The only problem with that though is that the app doesn't sync the time quick enough before all the Google stuff has loaded up and got it's knickers in a twist when a device is set to 1970. That means the playstore won't work. However the new devices like the MK808b pro thankfully don't reset the clock that far back, so everything still works.
Blade wrote: » iba wrote: » Hi Blade, Has your Pro come yet and if so what opinion do you have of it please? Thanks I received a few of the new MK808b pro's S905. I'm still really testing it for overheating problems that have been mentioned. I read one guy saying that his one locked up every 30 mins in Kodi. However I used it constantly last night for 2 hours and didn't have a problem, maybe there was something wrong with his Kodi setup! It's warmer to the touch than the earlier model 'Plus', but that didn't get any warmer at the end of the 2 hour session. I will of course let it run for 3 or 4 hours when I get a chance. But at first glance, it's not bad. It is faster than the Plus as expected, loads up much quicker etc. I haven't found any major bugs yet except there's no setting for Ethernet, but I'm pretty sure that could be added by a future ROM from Geekbuying or if someone makes a custom ROM for it. While of course there's no actual Ethernet connection on the device itself, I was using an adapter on the earlier model and there's no reason why it couldn't be physically possible on this too via USB. But TBH if you're just buying one device for yourself, you may as well go for something more expensive with 2GB RAM, Ethernet etc. BTW has anyone else noticed that people on Vodafone are having problems with their clock settings?
