So what's the story with insurance?

Is it only cars between 15 and 20 years old are being caught with the new rubbish insurance rules? And anything 20+ years qualify for classic?
Or is it only specific models of cars are "classic"?

Not many Mini with NCT to 2017 about in bangernomics budget, this one has only 109k miles, bodywork not perfect and you'd need to lift the seat covers but not a bad buy if all ok.

Another something for the Summer...NCT until 3/17 for €1400. One claimed owner too, if it checks out okay it could make for a decent runabout. No idea what they're like specifically though

Buddy has the 130 bhp ver of that car - same year and bit more mileage. If I was in the market for a cheap economical reliable load lugger, I would give that seller every penny of the asking. It looks mint and I can honestly say that they are quite an underrated car. Great Bangernomics.

There are a few companies that take 20 y/o cars on as classics, as long as you have another car insured as a daily driver. First Ireland being one of them.

It's not even that strict. I have my 16 year old BMW 318Ci insured as a classic with First Ireland. I have no insurance an any other car.

I got quoted €220 (max 2k miles) fully comprehensive, €260 (max 4k miles) if you already have insurance on another car

Unfortunately I have no insurance on another car, so I pay €340 fully comprehensive (max 6k miles)

Normal insurance as in any other car, so yes social and domestic (pretty sure this includes commuting) but no business use. First Ireland needs proof of membership of a classic car club.

That's a great deal. Certainly something worth considering if a nice usable classic ever tempted me.
