Now we're all fully aware that RTE has no knowledge or interest in the thuggery that is MMA but you would have thought that basic journalism and production of verifiable news would be quite integral to their very existence. . .or is it just me??? Anyway, here's their link to this story - http://www.rte.ie/sport/mma/2016/0425/784008-mcgregor-back/ Nothing controversial there. Now have a look at the image I've attached to see the headline they had up earlier this morning before they were advised by most of the comments preceding it that this "news" was not actually verified by any other source. Anyway, slow news day in the Teal household. . .

It also ensures all ears will be on John Kavanagh's appearance on the MMA Hour later tonight.

newballsplease wrote: » From Conors perspective...the focus is all on him and the head boys of the UFC and not is defeat to Diaz. Does anyone know why he went to Iceland to train? Why didn't his team just go to America and set up there?
John_D80 wrote: » He trains in Iceland quite often with Gunnar Nelsons team Mjolnir. There is a a very close relationship with SBG and them thanks to Nelson. Far less distractions there as well I'd imagine.
Saipanne wrote: » Imagine they were based in the states now. Dozens of reporters following him everywhere. He has relative peace in Iceland.

Cathy.C wrote: » Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. Most of the talk was about just why this fight was even happening and why it was that Conor was not defending his belt. There were even calls for him to be stripped of it. Here's just a selection of posts from this forum on the days surrounding the announcement of the rematch: Without question the vast majority of posts I seen either here, on Twitter, on Podcasts, under YT vids, other forums etc etc, were all showing a meh attitude to the fight. It wasn't until this whole debacle kicked off with the 'Thanks for the cheese' tweet that you the balance shifted and suddenly the majority of postings about the fight were positive about it happening. Which is what, imo, has fueled most of the conspiracy theories. It was seen as bizarre to have this rematch as the top of the card fight at UFC and now it's the opposite situation and the majority are now saying that no other fight can save it. Interesting turn of events, wouldn't you say.

newballsplease wrote: » It's the fight everyone wants now because it was dangled in front of you then snapped away. If it was built as Aldo v McGregor for UFC200 or Edgar v Mcgregor then all of a sudden it was cut from the card you'd want it back.
