Given Dana was willing to fly him on a private jet to all the promo events and set up his gym equipment every where he had to be it seems he has done as much as he can to accommodate McGregor so your right I shouldn't question his motives. Conor on the other hand seems unwilling to comprise he knows the promos are part and parcel of this game you can't avoid them no matter who you are. Leading up to the previous fight he was in halo night club in Galway less than 2 weeks before the fight now he's cribbin about a promo event 12 weeks out from the rematch, Diaz took the last fight with 10 days notice and destroyed him, McGregor is wimping out big time.

jcsoulinger wrote: » I neither like nor dislike Connor McGregor, but play the hater card if that makes you feel superior. What would Conors reaction be to someone who avoided a fight because they didn't want to do the promo, he would go ****in ape**** on their ass.

If the fight was changed to another match-up for McGregor it would be a bit of a letdown. Another loss for McGregor though and both the UFC and McGregor lose as his star wanes - two consecutive losses would have an effect, even if he was still technically holding his belt. Also mentally for McGregor. So maybe it suits both the UFC and McGregor to have the Diaz rematch shelved. Is he still in training towards a fight on that date?
CSF wrote: » Well you started off with the argument that Dana and co don't want this fight because they think Conor will lose. Then you moved onto the argument that Conor doesn't want the fight because he thinks he will lose. Sounds a lot like your arguments are based more on pre-conceived ideas than anything that has actually taken place here.
jcsoulinger wrote: » I then agreed that my points about Dana were off the mark considering he could have preempted the fight happening in the first place. I gave reasons why I think McGregor doesn't want the fight because he thinks he will lose, you seem to be ignoring them.

CSF wrote: » No I'm not ignoring them. I'm just pointing out that whichever argument you drift towards, it's based on preconceived ideas rather than anything has happened here or anything anyone had said. If you tell me Conor is afraid of Diaz and thinks he will lose, I can't prove he isn't. But there is no evidence of any kind suggesting this. Both parties have been really clear in their stance. UFC want Conor to do all the media work they have for him, Conor wants leeway. They can't agree and maybe won't. Some people will think UFC are right, some people will think Conor is right, grand. But when have conspiracy theories that imply the facts we have available to us are not the actual way things are, when have they ever not been based on pre-conceived ideas?

jcsoulinger wrote: » Fair enough, considering these FACTs He never had a problem with the promo before, Dana offered the flights, and equipment set up, Contract obligations are a part of every fighters build up, He doesnt deserve any special treatment. It looks to me like he's taking the easy way out

When faced with being told he promotesaid the fight or the fight is pulled he hit twitter and acted like a child. His justification? He didn't want to do it because he felt he wasn't being paid to do it.. He shouldn't get any leeway. The fight should be pulled and him left to reflect on the fact he threw away a multi million payday. I'm sure next time he won't be having his little diva moment.

Cathy.C wrote: » That's a loaded question as it starts with a presumption. Conor has an issue with the early promotion, not with the fight. Personally I think he doesn't want to do early promo stuff because his head has been elsewhere with more important crap the past two-three weeks and he wants a mental break from it all. Hence getting the fcuk away from Ireland to train. So you ask how would Conor react if a fighter he was facing didn't want to do promo stuff? Simple. He would play the game, slate them, whatever, but what he wouldn't do is expect the UFC to pull them from the card. Not a chance would he. Nice to see most fighters supporting him but those that aren't make me laugh. Seen a few say that 'Everyone has to do press and promo, that's the way it is' and some other such nonsense, as if their level of press would come anywhere near the level that Conor was doing for that last fight. The guy asked for a little leeway and I think he should be given it. Does it even matter what his reason is for asking for it? Lets say it is 100% because he wants to focus on his training and nothing whatsoever to do with anything else as I suggest. Has he not done enough for UFC to have earned that level of leeway? As far as I'm concerned the fact that he saved UFC 196 when RDA got a splinter should give him more than enough leeway. Went on Conan that week also and played computer games for a day.
jcsoulinger wrote: » What exactly is a little leeway? Do you know exactly what he asked for?
