Now it may well be that there is an overarching and vaguely worded clause about 'making reasonable effort to fulfill any and all required promotional obligations.' These clauses can he worded in a hundred ways and clause 4.6 can contradict 5.7, which then contradicts clause 10.1.

But as far as we know, he declined to do certain events in a certain time scale. There is a world of difference between saying I won't promote this event, and what has happened.

Where did the person in what you quoted say ALL media and press obligations?

There was never any mention either from Conor of the obligations having an effect on his family either. He wanted time to focus on training.

You're right. It's very unfair that someone who did 100 times the promo of Diaz before the first fight should want to scale back.

Which is why Dana has had a teenage girl ("Well, I'm not taking you to the prom then") hissy fit about this, all gussied up in contractual talk that any half decent attorney is going to shred in a two page brief.

It won't come to that, but the UFC line being pushed by Rogan, et. al., is patent nonsense.

Heads will be banged together. Conor will be at UFC 200 and things will be settled by the only two men who should count in all of this. Or it'll move to the Garden for an even bigger gate.

By the way if you're one of the people who backed the 9/4 in William Hills and want to lock in a profit, Paddy Power are now paying 5/2 on him not to fight at UFC 200. Which coincidentally I also think is huge but ill leave it.

Why does his post count matter if he's right?

He said he refused to do them. It's not an unfair implication to take from that he meant all of them.

Being right doesn't necessitate a dismissive posting tone. My experience of forums has always been that people who come in straight away with a dismissive condescending posting tones generally don't make for good reading even when they're right.

Do we know what agreement was in the contract as regards promotion - the way he is talking there was a press conference agreed and on the table and has said he has no problem with that. Was the mini tour mentioned or was that something the UFC added in later and when he said no to it they said tough you have to do it because of media obligations. It would seem odd to sign the contract weeks ago like you said and create a fuss about it now.

We don't know for sure (or I don't anyway)

I would imagine though that if this media work was not mentioned and agreed to by Conor and his team at the time they would be beating that drum in their public statements?

Ha I think Kavanagh is genius. Completely making fun of the situation, he's a brilliant man manager, and a gent. He's playing the situation perfectly, making the situation a bit smoother for his boy.

Kavanagh comes across grand everywhere except social media.

I don't see how him encouraging people to boycott UFC200 or to pressure the company (their employer) into putting Conor back on the card is playing the situation perfectly in terms of making the situation smoother.

How do those two things correlate?

I'm not really sure either party wants to go beating any drum though and start making claims of that nature.Dana hasnt gone crazy over the whole thing, hes been calm and just said McGregor is pulled for not agreeing to do the promotional stuff. Conor posts on facebook today and doesnt get too agressive towards Dana or the UFC either. They are at an impass but the UFC wants Conor to stay and he has no intention of retiring right now either.

Find it hilarious the amount of people who just want an alterior motive. Like since the first tweet it's gone from drug conspiracies to the death of another mma fighter, now it's a guy who can't win a prefight trash talk...

The guy wants to train and train proper because his conditioning let him down last time and he realises the advantage a bigger man has.

People have been saying for awhile that Conor needed to take a break after all of last year and UFC 196...its too much. I guess we are seeing what happens when the UFC asks for too much or Conor doesn't say no enough. Both are kinda to blame for this situation.

I think it was the SevereMMA interview before UFC196 when they asked him when is the Ireland stadium fight happening, he said he was commited to UFC200 and they'd most like make him do NYC too. I'm sure if this incident never came up and Conor promoted and fought at UFC 200, the UFC would make definetly mske him headline NYC defending his belt.

I wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for Conor to skip out of UFC200 and focus on defending his belt in NYC and do all the promos then.

Maybe it's all an elaborate hoax to drum up publicity? If it is it's certainly working.

You can't sign a contract and then refuse to fulfill the terms of that contract a few weeks later. What's changed between yesterday and back when he signed the contract? He suddenly had an epiphany and realised he needs to train more to beat someone who's essentially a weight class above him? I don't buy it.

I think if he fights at UFC 200 then this was all a ruse. If not then maybe they really did have a falling out.

I fully expect him back for New York, and I fully expect everything to be smoothed over. Which is exactly why tweets like the one from Kavanagh earlier have got to be counter productive to this whole thing.

They need to find a path to reconciliation now while both saving face. Neither will want to attack the other particularly, they are worth too much money to each other.
