Official Conor McGregor thread (part 2). Read warning in 1st post

The last thread was nearing the 10k post limit so here's part 2.

The same rules as the last thread apply here. People seem to have strong opinions either way when it comes to McGregor and threads here tend to get a bit heated from time to time. Please keep it civil and discuss all things Conor in a mature way.
Any name-calling, trolling, baiting, or being a general ass-hat will earn you a ban from the thread and possibly the forum.
If you have an issue with a post, please use the report post function. Any off topic posts will be deleted.
Any "Do you even train Bro?" or "I'm an mma fan longer than you" type posts are not permitted either. They only make you look like a fool and as a result, everyone hates you. Yes everyone.

seems like what he's not saying is that he doesn't want to do promos (excepting the NY one) when they would involve facing a guy (Diaz) who has already beaten him (with an embarrassing tap-out finish that's very fresh in the mind) where the back-chat trash-talk possibilities are limited. he had no problem doing it before.

It's a great statement but let's be honest here, Conor can't just all of a sudden pretend that it was only his fists that got him where we is today.

He's a show man, and if anything it's been the build up to fights and the mental warfare that has been his greatest asset. Do you think Aldo would've charged at him the way he did had Conor not been winding him up for months?

He's dealing with Dana White, the guy who built the game and knows it. Fighters don't have the power, he does! He believes this so much that he let it get in the way of us seeing Fedor in the UFC.

He cant give in now. And neither can Conor. There'll have to be a compromise but I think that Conor's bluff has been called here and his comment is a back-track, just in the most McGregor way possible!

In terms of the fight in the cage Nate won hands down, outside the cage Diaz cant compete. Even with a loss to Diaz recently McGregor would still end up coming out on top when it comes to thrash talk. Nate can barely string a sentence together never mind play mind games and bring decent thrash talk to the table. The UFC have made vast amounts of money because Conor was compelling in interviews and brilliant at promotion. Also, he has done more promotional work than any other fighter. Exponentially more.

The figures relating to number of interviews/social media reach/PPV buys and box office numbers can't be argued with. The numbers simply don't lie. The guy is a grafter who went above and beyond any contractual obligations he had to promote events. He sure as hell didn't quote contract clauses, he simply went above and beyond what he was obligated to do.

Secondly, he has NOT said he will not promote the fight. But he wants to scale his promo way back so he can better prepare. What's wrong about asking other fighters to take up the slack? Presumably that's part of their obligation as well?

There is also the question of recent events and the death of a brave young man. On a side note: the Irish MMA community should be extremely proud of how they have handled themselves. People without resources have really proven their decency and character in supporting the families involved, while being vilified by an at times moronic Irish media.

Given all of this, I think the very least the UFC and the MAA community should do is cut Conor a bit of slack. We might also want to remember that he's a 27-year-old who yes has made a fortune, but who has earned every penny and handled it better than anyone I know would have at that age.

If this was Diaz or any other fighter, McGregor would be saying how he's running scared.

He was contracted to do the media obligations. You can't sign a contract and say "I agree to do X" but then refuse do X and argue that you don't need to do X because you generated so much money and want to do Y instead.

I think they both realise Nate is a bad bad match up for Conor. Conor is a knockout artist and Nate's chin is too much for him. Conor isn't gonna wrestle him either so his only way to win is by decision. McGregor is untested over a 5 rounder. They just can't see him bet Diaz so concoct this to get him out of it imo.

I think they will kill Nate off at 200 with an opponent who will beat him. Nate will be old news then.

Regardless of the reason, writing on ****ing Twitter that you're retiring only to come back on ****ing Twitter 2 days later and say that you're not is stupid bloody behaviour.

I like Conor. I don't like everything that he says, but usually I can understand why he's saying it but this was dumb and he won't win in this situation. If the UFC bends the rules this time it'll start a precedent that will cause them serious issues with fighters in the future.

A rematch to a pointless fight in the first place will not be missed on the 200 card if it's amended properly.

All Diaz has to do is keep repeating is "you tapped out mofo" what do say to that?

Diaz walked out of the nbc gig if I recall due to mcgregor going on about how poor Diaz was compared to him, which was low as it gets.

Still tho I think he's absolutely right. Afaik the promo stipulations changed so he's right to fight for himself.

Hard to see happening apart from Diaz saying he wants the fight and doesn't care if McGregor cuts back some media work.

Then White can say he doesn't agree but won't deny Diaz his big payday, everyone wins.

I understand Conor with this statement.

The guy was like a dancing monkey for the UFC and all its fighters ( yes he brought it on himself ) but everyone pocketed off his back.

Now that they take it for granted he has changed it up and told everyone to step it up Pre -fight.

I can see the next conference where all questions are direct at Conor and him telling the Media to direct all questions to the other fighters on stage..

All Diaz could say is that, and he would get drowned out by McGregor during every interview that would happen. McGregor is too witty for him, Nates thought process goes at about 10 mile an hour. You cant expect it to go any other way, McGregor is well able to handle any crowd. The abuse he got in Brazil from the crowd rolled off his back. Nate offers nothing in the thrash talking game and its a waste of both their time. Nate walked off the CNBC gig because he had no comeback, even the interviewer was giggling at Conors comments about Nate not being able to count to 5 nevermind the 10 count for the interview.
