Just picked up a box of goodies from Detailing Shed. I got it delivered to work and got some looks carrying the box through the office space. All I'm going to say is I've a week's holidays coming soon so the first attempt at machine polish will be done. I got some Chemical Guys pads and polish, along with TarX and Bilt Hamber goodies.

The week will be tough, as I've got an old black car door to learn machine polishing, two (or maybe three) cars for a proper detail, one motorhome for a proper clean and a brand new motorhome for a proper clean and wax. I'm also planning a few days away!

whats the best snow foam shampoo to buy, which one gives the best finish??

I have 50 cal and find it very good but its only the 1st step in a wash it wont give a finish as such.
Its job is to lift the dirt.

Curran, have you Dry Me Crazy's rowing their way in by any chance? Or a rough idea as to when you'd hope to have them for sale again on the site?

As an aside, got my shed building antics finished (automatic roller door in, ramp built for car, new floor poured).

And what do you with an over excited giddy child to make them calm down and wish they were never born? Yup - you get them to paint a shed.

I did the walls today (one coat.. a 'mist' coat, at that, too). The thoughts of the ceiling are killing me. I painted about 3 'rolls' on the ceiling. Covered a whopping area of about 3x1 foot I'd say. And I was destroyed. Paint in my hair, shoulders, and worse again - eyes! :rolleyes: Good thing the extension pole I had didn't break fairly quickly into getting started.. oh.. wait..!

I was more annoyed and irritated after doing 10 seconds on the ceiling than I was after doing all of the walls. And my arms were killing me.

Still.. at least when this is done, that's the hardest part over with.

Also, what happened to Orchard Auto Care? They were all the rage last year but now I rarely ever hear mention of them?

That's a very nice setup KKV. It's exactly what I'll be doing in my place when the time comes. Would you consider getting the floor sealed?

No, sadly. It's the kinda thing I'd like to learn (not that I've any real genuine interest in learning it in terms of 'I'd love to work' at that kinda stuff, but more that I'd like to know how to do decent DIY stuff in day to day life).

I had plenty of DIY run-ins with that shed. Last year I spent a few Euro on paint, doors, etc. and had a blast at it, but decided this year I needed to get a pro in to sort it out for once and for all.

The floor alone was all over the place, now it's level. Same with the walls. The gate needed to be widened (well, didn't need to be, but i wanted it to be). There was a a lot of hassle with the shed. Too much for me to really consider DIYing.

I'll be doing the easier aspects (painting, a small bit of cementing around the ramp outside the shed for aesthetics, flooring and furniture, etc.).

The floor will be getting covered in floor paint. I've about 40 litres, which I'm hoping will give 3 decent, thick coats of the floor. Floor was never painted before and constantly 'dusted up' (the cement peeling, pretty much) and it was a nightmare. Could never have the place clean as every few days there'd be a layer of dust on the floor.

The plan is to have anti-fatigue mats on the ground under the car, and a wooden floor against the wall opposite the gate, for a desk, storage etc. so the floor will be getting covered anyway. But I'm still gonna paint it to make sure it's not dusting up on me over and over.

Pity the Detailing Shed name is taken :P

50 csal have 2 different foams. The one you should get is the Ambush foam.

You would still need to wash the car unless you have some nano type protection already on. It is the one i have as ph neutral is the way to go. It wont strip the protrction if any.

Had the car spotless for the NCT. Well worth doing as I think its sets the testers expectation. I think they are less likely to point out something trivial when the car is clearly well minded..

Maybe I'm talking ****e but if I had to inspect something clean or something with a layer of cow ****e on it I know which car I'd be more leniant with

Need a bit of help lads driving a red a4, which at under street lights at night you can easily see swirl damage all over it.

Problem I have is I have no garage just a driveway.
Any time I try to attempt to remove these with my da using a green hex pad and menzerna sf4000 like today I tried half the boot lid and couldn't see if I had made any impact.

Is that even a right combination to use

Your cutting ability is low. There are far more aggressive options. The biggest issue is Sf4000 hasn't a lot of cut. And on harder Audi paintwork it won't be very effective so a pass won't very dramatic changes. A few passes and you'll start to see correction ...one pass and you'll see colour restoration, depth and gloss. A Yellow Hex pad and cutting polish will give better results in one or two passes.

Very light cut man, i used a yellow hex and fg300 to correct my heavily swirled paintwork.
Great results after 2-3 passes.
90% removed!

Great stuff lads thanks Curran and YB,I'm sure detailing shed might have what I need.

What would be good to use with a orange pad?

CarPro Fixer or Chemical Guys V32 will give you results quickest!

Any difference other than the price haha between the car pro and v32?

Both seem to have the same cut ability?
