Yah it is definetly a kestrel alright.

A lovely morning – and so much more pleasant being out and about when the temperature sneaks into the teens!

Yes I was surprised- I heard him singing and looked up to see him in full open view:)- and he stayed for 30 seconds or so

This female duck was keeping her chicks well camouflaged among the reeds/weeds in the pond in St Catherine's Pk.
I counted 16 - so one is missing from this photo

It's a Mandarin duck. There are a few of them around the Dodder near Bushy Park. One breeding pair that I have seen. An invasive species, but an interesting one to look at!

This is a section of the expansive Lucan Demesne/ St Catherine's Park in Lucan/Leixlip
They have flooded the lower part of the field- (where the 16 ducklings are) - and have ( with a local farmer's aid) introduced some beautiful Highland Cattle and a handsome breed of sheep??

A Male and Female Pheasant are resident here also ( with 2 chicks I hear) . The word is that the male is not totally monogamous!

Beautiful pictures of the Treecreeper Nightforce. Well done. The last one with its spiderlike feet really show how they cling to the treebark. Never seen such detail on one before. Brilliant.

I have been trying for this little guy for ages but he likes a very shaded spot so was hard to get a decent shot of him , but the bit of sunshine in the evenings gave me a great chance to get some decent shots and Today he obliged and stayed around long enough for some nice photos. Glad you like the photos....
