Hi all,

Thinking of booking this venue for our wedding but have a few concerns- if anyone's got married here recently maybe you can help!

We are having 120 to dinner (main house, no marquee) and then inviting about 30 to afters. They assured us there would be plenty of room but I'm not so sure? The room is definitely on the small side and I don't want it to be so full people feel uncomfortable.

Has anyone gone with the BBQ wedding package? Fiancé is keen, I'm a bit more reluctant

My sister got married here. And my cousin is getting married there in two months. I think it is beautiful. It is a very popular (and busy) venue for weddings.

We had just over 100 on the day and it did seem kinda tight! It would probably have been one extra table had we a full house, and I can see that it would have fit. Bear in mind you might end up with fewer people anyway as the day gets closer.

Had about 30 at afters too. We got a great day weather wise, so it didn't seem cramped due to folks mingling outside though.

Threads like this aren't as common as they were a few years ago, however they do still pop up now and again. Unless you have a credible source (like a news article) that you can quote and link to saying that a business is closing down, please don't post. Rumours and conjecture are just that, and it is unbelievably stressful for a bride or groom to hear rumours about suppliers they are using, and not be able to have them confirmed. In addition to that, it can be damaging to a business if rumours about them closing down are being posted online.

One thing on the numbers OP, is that if you're inviting 120, is it realistic to expect that they'll all RSVP Yes?
Typically, I've heard a drop off around 10-15% is normal, so you might have more room than you think.

Also, I think its unrealistic to expect that all 30 will come for afters. Some people are funny about afters only invites, so won't attend. Also, sometimes people feel like an afters only invite is just a courtesy, so may send a card, but just might not be bothered going.

True! I guess I could expect some drop off from the full invites but a lot are on my partners side (he has a huge and very close family) so I think we'll retain our numbers...The people for the afters are big groups of friends from college that we'd catch up with a few times a year, that I'd love to see but can't afford to invite to the full shindig. Knowing them I know they wouldn't be offended in the slightest by an afters invite.

Was there at a wedding two weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Just over 110 and it was cosy rather than tight. Everything ran like clockwork and food was really nice.

Went to a friends wedding there really great venue with the outside space and the bar space and people mingling it won't feel so tight everyone won't all be in the room at one time

I've been to 2 weddings there in the past 3 years and it was a lovely venue. Over 100 in both cases, both had bad weather so people were t outside much or anything but didn't feel cramped at all. Great service and food is really good too.

It's definitely top of our venue list, just think it's so pretty and its local to us too.

Hi we've also booked this venue for our wedding next year but are very worried that the venue has gone up for sale... we're strongly considering moving venue but afraid they'll try and keep the deposit. I don't like the idea of investing so much money with all the uncertainty

Just search online we found out in the paper and have canceled now but they won't reply to our emails about a refund. Very disappointed

I emailed this morning and was told they are still taking bookings for next two years. Did you have it paid in full or the deposit? Its written in the T&C they will retain the deposit

@Iasair yes they're still taking bookings but couldn't guarantee us anything 100% so we're not going to take the chance. I don't want to have you worried about your day so be all means go for it and I hope it's perfect for you. A friend of mine had to find a new wedding venue 3 months before her wedding because their original venue was sold so no thanks. Luckily we have only given them the first payment (initial deposit). We've already informed them on Tuesday that we'd like to cancel but they still haven't responded to us even though I sent a follow up email. I spoke to a solicitor and he told us they haven't a leg to stand on regarding keeping the deposit, the contract is completely void due to the property going up for sale so the T&C's have changed. We wouldn't have booked it had we known it was going up for sale that's for sure. Solicitor letter should be in the post today or tomorrow so hopefully we'll get a response then, get the deposit back and we can put it all behind us.

@Lorenna we were looking forward to it and had heard a lot of good things about it but I'm not going to take the chance and frankly we're astonished by their failure to communicate with us. Hopefully we find somewhere new in the next few weeks and get the deposit sorted out soon because there's no way I'm letting it slide. Can't believe they left you waiting that long that's ridiculous but maybe they knew once you'd find out it was for sale you wouldn't book it anyway haha

We have a wedding booked for later this year. I understand the new owners are doing works and upping the cost of weddings.

I also suspect they are trying to get people who booked last year at lower rates to cancel...so the can sell the dates at higher prices.

The new management are not helpful.. the one we talked to was really rude ... suggesting if we didnt like their new approach we should cancel.

This evening as my wedding is 3 weeks away I met with one of the new management team, GM, to be exact and I was personally shown the property. To be honest I was skeptial at the start but I left truly blown away! The amount of work this person is carrying out is just crazy in such a short period 8 weeks. I had issues with communication however this is actually due to an upgrade in systems which was definitely needed especially if they are to take to the level they have invasiged but they are accessible by email and will call you if you make a request. I went with apprehension and I have left beaming and full of confidence in the team. My advice is contact hotel directly by email and ask to speak directly to them or even get details for them because they are working exceptionally hard to make it all 100%.

Has anyone had their reception in Leixlip Manor in 2016? Did you bring in your own wine and pay corkage? We were quoted a price and now they are trying to increase it with only two weeks to go to the wedding day. If you still have details of what you paid I'd love to hear from you.

Hi, I have a wedding booked at Leixlip in June this year. I'm getting a little worried after reading some of these posts. We are planning it from abroad and lots of people are traveling from the US. The GM assured me that all renovations would be completed by then. Would be great to hear updates from all of you as you learn more.

Hi, Our wedding took place in Leixlip Manor last Saturday and I cannot speak highly enough of both the venue and staff. The inside of the house has been transformed. New drapes, fresh paint, new dance floor, perfect bathrooms and some of the bedrooms have been upgraded too. Everything we had previously booked was honoured.The food arrived hot and the beef was melt in the mouth. I would have no reservations at all about recommending the venue to anyone. Hope this helps anyone who has a wedding coming up.

All brides 2017,panic over,I called into leixlip manor yesterday,a lot of work going on and just to tell ye it is fab,they are honouring all wedding packages,I'm so excited,I was going to take pictures but the manager wants to surprise all u lovely brides.

Well, we just got an email saying that they will be doing renovation works for the next 9-12 months and on our wedding in October 2017 the courtyard is not going to be available... I am absolutely freaking out as I can't imagine having a wedding beside a building site..and there is nowhere for guests to stay!
