There's always that -aha feeling - where you realise a some shortcut or how it all fits together. Even when I'm spaced out, i still have some idea how many turns I took. I guess the trick is to train yourself to notice certain details, Landmarks (even dull ones like the local spar) and Street Names. While Googlemaps is great, I'll never need to consult it again once I've found the place.:D
