id take the saab myself! balancer shafts help a lot with smoothness over most normal 4pots :cool:

The only car to ever end up considerably worse after a major facelift. Hollow plastic interior door handles instead of one piece solid lumps that went beforr, GM generic stereo system (ironically identical to the one you find in the Epica above) which was vastly inferior to the one Saab originally fitted, creaking cheap plastics everywhere, mix mash of switch gear from various eras and manufacturers (most of GM stuff being utterly awful) and general feeling that the only remit the engineers had in doing the face lift was to make it cheaper, a lot cheaper.

As for that Epica. Incredible value on paper but an utterly hopeless car. Sub Sonata which is essentially what it was, a Korean car from a by gone era sold with a Chevy badge. Horrific plastic interior, comedy suspension which was neither comfortable or sporty, 6 cylinder engine with that sounded like an old Mitsubishi 4 pot but lacked its performance and returned mind bending poor fuel economy. Honestly you'd struggle to actually set out to make a poorer car. Bargain? Yup, but it would want yo be.

I like the look of this. Nice & original looking with only 70-odd k miles, and nearly 12 months test. Of course for €550 it would be a nice buy but my gut says €600 drives it away..which all things considered isn't too bad

Summer is around the corner. I think this might be a six pot, a great yoke for cruising about. You wouldn't struggle to insure this on a classic policy too if you have a main policy on something else, and theres a hard top for post-summer too.

Have you ever driven a three cylinder Corsa though? I have probably the lowest standards on this forum but if there is one car I would not drive its one of those

Don't get me wrong though, I saw nd's one and it looked well and nicely presented, and having sold a few myself its no surprise he sold it. I guess some people just want that quality German engineering

^^ .... was just about to post that one myself. A great example of the last of the real Saabs .... and the classy Vector pack makes all the difference. Totally agree with everything you said about the newer 2006-2009 model - cheap plastic feel inside and out and firm ride - nothing of the older Saabs to recommend it.

Couldn't disagree more. 3 litre as handy to run as the 2 litre if it wasn't for the tax and I actually think the sport cross looks far better. But there you go.

I'm a big estate fan, imo they generally look better than saloons. But that Lexus has a fat arse. It's all I think of when I see them. Saying the 2.0 is as good as the 3.0 on petrol isn't saying much either! :pac:

Depends on what you are into I suppose; I would love that Lexus, the interior looks lovely and thats where I spend most of the time in a car (not looking at the back :pac:) - the three litre tax is a killer but what can you do. In the name of luxury it has to be paid sometimes. I remember, many years ago, a doctor on call in out locale who had a blue IS with cream leather, it was a stunning car then.
