Vantasks seems to be recommended a lot on boards.ie and I made the mistake of using them just to move 4 items of furniture and they broke 50% of them.

Hire a van and rope in a mate. Don't trust anyone but yourself!

You will need a tail lift on the van and a high roof id say to be safe with those cabs, especially the point blank. cant imagine lying my time crisis cab on its back, with a mirror etc in it. you would have to take the whole thing apart.

I've used Vantasks.ie twice. First time everything went perfect, second time a cab fell.

There's always a risk with these things unfortunately. I'll be using them again whenever I get around to moving my gear again though, they're decently priced and have vans with tail lifts.

Probably be less stressful if your hired a van yourself and a few mates or someone to help you?

Whenever I brought a pin into the house I had to take doors off hinges, now they are all in my garage so that's all of that bull**** done

If you get a van with a tail lift that also has those these ratchet type supports in the back then you should be grand

They can be used to hold the cabs steady upright during transport.

Yeah I think most decent movers have those. What I was thinking with the pallets was the actual lifting of the cabs in and out of the truck. Without the pallet its just lifting the cab directly, that might damage it, no?

I'd rather skip the pallets as its an extra pain in the butt I'd rather not have to deal with. Maybe I can just pad the bottom of the machines and that'll do the job :0)

if you have a tail lift though, you just roll them onto that then it lifts them up and you roll them into the back of the van, using their own wheels or a trolly, then secure with those things.

This sort of thing.

putting them on a pallet might be a pain, especially if you have to do it once youve moved them outside of your house, unless you can put them on a pallet inside then fit out?

When mitch delivered my Time Crisis, he had a van with no tail lift. but used two long planks as ramps. we just lined up each set of wheels to the two planks then rolled it down. haha.

Oisin, what happened your broken cab, did they pay for it?
People on here probably know more about do's and dont's of cab moving more than the van rental people.

Also,
If the Point Blank wont fit in the doors of the new house I might not bother taking it apart and just sell it on(it's the one cab that wouldn't break my heart to say goodbye to). So keep an eye out for that if it's anyone's grail cab.

The new house is bigger than the old one, but I dont think the side access is as wide, so probably cant slide the larger cabs around the back to go in the double doors of the kitchen

The candy and ridge racer will slide in no probs, and the other little cab as well.

pretty sure time crisis 1 and point blank are the same cab but with different artwork. Yours is a two player right? my time crisis is a 1 player, but its the same cab basically except time crisis has a big red plastic shell on the front. fit through my door no problem.

Edit: just seen a pic of your point blank, its 100% the same cab as time crisis 1. so you might be ok depending on the doors on your new place. mine are not hugely wide or anything, just a normal door.

Nah, I'd not buy in Dublin(I got a nice place in Krakow city centre a number of years ago for the cost of a small lawnmower shed here in Dublin

).
Just renting a new place as I'm looking for a bit more room for baby, arcade machines(if they fit in) and some other interests that take up a bit of room.

Got quoted €145 flat rate + €60 per hour from Vantask for the move. Thats using their biggest van/truck. It's not too bad and I made them aware of the arcade machines and weight etc. Not sure if the truck is tall enough to take the Point Blank as is, but the topper comes off and its only about 6 feet tall then.

I'll be back on in a few weeks crying about my broken arcade machines and distorted CRT's

Oh Jebus, all the BVM's and PVM's as well :0/

Egret 3 candy, Ridge Racer upright, Point Blank and Konami carousel mini arcade machine type yolk a few of use got a while back from Keith's barn find(still need to restore that one and get some proper info on it).

Cool you still have that ? Think it's a taito cab though if memory serves. I'm pretty sure I rented a van from enterprise for two hundred euro when I got those cabs. And that was overnight too. Might be cheaper getting a van yourself.
