Edit: think I get another 10% of that if I pay in full at least I did last year, I had another 10% discount when my wife was insured with them too but she changed insurers last year.

Paid €428 last year!

Was getting €610 from chill insurance online calculator so thought it was par for the course but run_Forrest_run's quote makes me see it's worth doing a bit of shopping around.

I was with Allianz got it for €600 last year added the girlfriend who's a learner and they brought it up to €900, they were looking for €1700 this year with her or €980 without, she has her own car now so removing her anyway, I really don't understand how cover in a click can get me cheaper cover with Allianz than I can directly but I'm not complaining.

A few years back a friend was insured with aviva and got a renewal quote.
He went to a broker who got him insurance for 50 euro cheaper which was underwritten by aviva. Delighted til he found out that he didnt have the driving of other cars extension anymore.

I renewed this morning, jaysus the level of upselling yer man was doing on the phone was hilarious. I suppose that's how they work, get you in with a competitive rate and try sell you more stuff then. I held firm anyway.

Yes, I know they say always price around, but it really is fcuking sickening doing it. It depends on how you value your time/sanity/blood pressure, and how long you think you'll be at it.

The excess is half of what Allianz were giving me, Allianz quote didn't have breakdown assist with home start, click to insure does, I can't figure it myself, the guy from coverinaclick said he ticked everything

It's common for brokers to allign with certain insurers to get heavily discounted rates.

I worked in chill for almost 2 years a number of years ago and during that time they would get special discounts for various insurers that were not available to customers going directly to the insurers themselves.

My best quote is with 123.ie. I've noticed that the renewal date makes a difference, I was wondering does anyone know why?

Eg my quote is €726 if I take cover from tomorrow, however if I wait till Saturday its only €702, if I wait till monday its €692. Anyone know why this is??

Also has anyone rang 123.ie and got a better offer than whats online? They told me they put their best price online and cant better it.

I rang them because I wanted to knock the Key Insurance off my quote, couldn't do that online.
In general though I often find by talking to a person you will manage to get the price down a bit compared to a web page.

Just got mine and nearly choked on my tea. 650 quid, up almost 50% on last year's 458, and I thought that one was bad.

9 years no claims and full license over 15. Daylight robbery.

ETA, car is 1.9 petrol turbo, I'm 40 and no points.

Does it keep dropping the further forward you go. You could get a very cheap quote if you went a month in advance. lol.
IMO you always get a better quote by ringing them and telling them you have a lower quote by someone else with the same cover. It might only be 10 or 20 off but stilll better off in your pocket

I laughed so hard I had to put the phone away for few seconds.

In the end my brother will be able to use the car if he needs to this year. He will have to pay, though:D

Was 'invited' to renew my policy yesterday with Liberty for €633 Third Party, full NCB (around €460 last year). By chance I had requested an online quote only yesterday (before I'd opened the post!) with them out of curiosity and got a quote of €478 Comprehensive.

Called them this morning and there's a new 'invite' with that quote in the post. I'm delighted they're honoring it but can't fathom what they had offered me in the first place with the exact same details except for a 10% discount as my partner took out a policy with them also during the year.

I didn't know they tracked cars

I was just messing around on the website and got that quote, thought it wasnt bad but no tracker is coming near my car. I think i'd rather pay more just to avoid a tracker..

My renewal is in may so no hurry. I just get nervous when seeing some of the more crazy quotes that's been given out.

Got my renewal notice yesterday from AIG. €580 for a 2004 1.6 avensis, third party. Up €120 on last year's. Two years ago I was paying 360. No points either.
I have a 1700cc motorbike which is newer and higher value that costs nearly 200 quid less for fully comprehensive insurance.
Do they just pull random numbers out of the air for these quotes or what?

00 astra 1.4 renewal with 123.IE is 620 up a 100 from last year tried to get it down over the phone they said if u can find cheaper go for it. 32 with 4 years ncb

For some reason they've decided to bump me up to stage 5 (full) NCB despite having only 1 year in my own name after a break in insurance.
I got last year off the back of being on my dad's car while I couldn't afford my own and after big arguments with manages I thought I'd get hit with a whopper this year but I'm ****ing delighted.

I should be all in with my Mazda as a classic for less than a grand. :cool:

Gone up, like wotz said. It was €950 last year on a 1.2 Punto and the renewal came in at €1112. Got it down to €1085 over the phone and then extra €200 to switch over to the Escort.

Vw golf 2 litre TDI, 26 year old male. Full licence for 8 years, 7 years ncb. Fully comp with breakdown assist, windscreen cover, ncb protection and driving of other cars was 755. I'm pretty happy with that. Last year I insured a 1.2 fiesta tpft for 410 so paying a decent bit extra for the car this year. Worth it though.
