Nate cant be put away with one shot its simple as that,even the head kick Josh landed clean as a whistle shin to head would've left most people in a coma it only stumbled him,

Them shots Conor landed on Nate if they touch up Aldo or Frankie I think he decapitates them.

Seems to me there are a good few on here who don't follow MMA much and seem to think win/loss records should mirror professional boxers' (e.g. 18-0, 22-1,etc).

As I said last night, Anderson Silva has 3 UFC losses on his record, GSP has 2, Mighty Mouse has 1, even Jon Jones (however debatable) has 1, Aldo has 1, Liddell has 5. The list goes on and on and on.

If you're going to become a great in the UFC you're not going to get out with your record unscathed. Elite level MMA just doesn't work like that. Unlike boxing, you don't get the chance to pick and choose your opponents and if you go on any sort of run you'll be up against a top guy before too long.

It's the nature of the beast.

Wasn't having a go at Conor for fighting much props for him turning up for this fight,it was more the choice of opponent and then having the fight at 170.

Nate is a big LW making the fight at 170 was one of the stupidest ideas i can ever recall,given the fact Conor never fought anyone close this size,or reach.

But do you know who else retired at 21-8? Chuck Liddell. Randy Couture was 30-11. BJ Penn finished up 16-10. All three are among the best and most respected fighters in UFC history, in no small part because (like Nate and Conor) they kept testing themselves to see how far they could go. Those 18-0 type of records are considerably rarer in the UFC, is basically my point.

Anyone think Conor could do with a boxing coach/striking coach?

I know Roddy is now but I don't think he has much input on how McGregor fights, mainly just a training partner and padman.

If he is serious about moving up (he should be, that cut to 145 is not something he should do after age 30), he should consider having a seasoned striker help him with a viable game plan. He'll have to learn to fight smarter and I do think he needs to train with tougher guys too. No one at SBG is going to be able to touch him when they are sparring, his striking is head and shoulders above anyone else at the gym. He could do with sparring people who are capable of taking his head off and maybe then he'll learn that absorbing strikes isn't a viable gameplan.

I think he'll come back stronger and one remark in his post fight interview particularly stood out, that he was going celebrate adversity. Right now he needs a break, he's been essentially the front man of the UFC for over a year and we've seen how that turned out for Ronda. I'd be in favour of Aldo vs Edgar at UFC200 for the #1 contender spot, Conor fighting at UFC202 then.

Could someone please tell me what are Ido Portal's fighting credentials? Why is he doing padwork with Conor and why was he in his corner the other night?

Ido Portal claiming that he was going to jump onstage and attack professional fighters after they mocked him was incredibly cringe worthy as well.

Who is this guy? From what I can see he is some sort of Hipster strength and conditioning coach, 'a movements guru', his increasing influence over Conor's training is getting ridiculous.

Nate Diaz summed it up; 'playing touch butt in the park with that dork'

SBG and Kavanagh are incredibly overrated. Best gym in Ireland by a mile but it doesn't come close to some of the gyms in the US. Gunnar has taking a dive since training there, Cathal's stand up was atrocious and every other fighter looks completely out of their depth. Connor is getting by on pure talent.

I'm sorry but any coach that would step aside to allow Conor to spend a huge amount of his training time doing yoga in the park with a hipster should really be asking himself questions.

Has Ido Portal pushed John Kavanagh aside?
