You could tell one minute before he lost he was done for, that hit really knocked him out even though he was still on his feet. He was gone.. Then he just started getting battered even more. Like others have said he went for the takedown in desperation cause he would have been knocked out if he kept standing up.

Conor out played at his own game, then went to the ground out of desperation. I knew Diaz had the striking skill and power to cause Conor problems. Diaz reach also caused him big problems. Unfortunately for Conor when he did manage to land, his strikes were not as powerful at this weight it seems.

Nate isn't even considered a massive puncher but one of his shots in the middle of the 2nd round really stunned Conor. Was struggling to recover after it.

Ah cmon the loss has very little to do with his ground game, he got hit by big punches and went for the take down out of sheer desperation. Once he fell to the ground he had nothing left. He started the second round very well for the first two minutes or so but once he got rocked that first time he started wobbling and you could see it was either a case of him clinging on to the end of the round or Diaz finishing him off. You could see the difference when he loses the reach advantage although he still landed a lot of shots, he was trying to force the finish too much in the 2nd and paid for it, needed to be more patient, got sloppy and paid the price.

It was a very entertaining fight and well done to Nate Diaz. I hope Conor is humble in defeat and it will be interesting to see how he bounces back. It was a brave move on his part to go up two weight divisions, going to be interesting to see where he ends up. Hats off to Diaz again, took the fight on short notice and finished him well. Will be interesting to see how all of Conor's new fans react to the loss as well, I will certainly be cheering him on when the RDA fight rolls around, I hope there isn't a cheap backlash against him for losing one fight.

The aura is gone now anyway. There's blood in the water. The next fight will tell a lot but everything up until this point has gone his way - be interesting to see how he bounces back.

This loss makes no difference to McGregor's marketability. He's still the big moneyfight for anyone from 145-170 and they will still all want to fight him. He still has a fight with RDA and title fight at 145 if he wants to make the weight again.

Absolute worst case scenario for him is he gets one or two more 10+ million dollar paydays.

The haters are all delighted to see him lose but he is still winning where it really counts.

Hype train = over, very disappointed but in a way happy to shut up the people that think he's superhuman. There were question marks over his wrestling and grappling, and well there you have it. Have to say I was surprised to see him rocked on the feet though. The Conor train has been great but it will never be the same again, RDA, Edgar, Ferguson and many others beat him easily once it hits the mat.

He was hardly in any state to even attempt to defend himself, he was all over the place, hence why it was so easy on the ground. Im fairly sure had he not been nearly unconscious he would never have given up like that.

I'd say dropping down to 145 from 168 would be too much of a drop, I'd say he'll got for the 155 belt at UFC 200 (assuming both fighters aren't injured)

Called it in the poll. Nate obviously wasn't out of shape if he has been training for a Triathlon. I didn't like Conor's jibes at Nate for being broke and the 'balloon animal' rubbish so glad to see him fall on his pampered ass.

Conor should go back down and get that fight with Edgar.
