Another complete cretin. I wouldn't put him on the same level as convicted violent criminals though who have been alleged to be commanders of the IRA and linked to horrendous murders and crimes.

They have and that's why they're voted in. But that's supposed to be the job of the local government and councillors as well they know.

Even in their double interview on RTE an hour ago the phrase "above in Dublin" must have featured a half dozen times in 3-4 minutes. It's us and them and they know their supporters have bought into it 100%.

It looks like Joan might retain her seat after all. Pretty handy they threw her home "town" into the Dub West constituency for this one. She'd be retired with a big fat pension if they hadn't. Wonder which one she'd prefer actually.

They have indeed. But that's what we have county councillors for. TDs are supposed to debate legislation and government policy. Not get the potholes fixed. Or provide false alibis to constituents accused of a criminal offence (can't go into details here or I'd be sued for libel).

I dunno, there are some genuine grievances to be had in some of these more rural areas. You can understand why the locals vote the way they do sometimes. Although voting for Independents as crooked as you like is never a good idea.

Parts of the Navan Rd. were added to Dublin West this time around. Not sure how far down it goes now but I was reading on the Irish Times that Joan was putting all her focus into canvassing down that way and they mentioned the family connection. The mentioned Cabra too but it might just skirt on the actual Cabra area.

The early results were mainly the boxes from that end of the constituency and she was neck and neck with Varadkar in them. So regardless of where she's from or what the connection is the new areas seem to be supporting her quite strongly.

The Healy Raes were always seen as a bit of a joke in Kerry.... But...they did what they were asked of by their constituents. They have no power in the dáil when it comes to decision making, but if they can get things done for the people of their locale, then they have done their job..... Ferris has done nothing of note in his years in the dáil, so if he swaps his seat for the other Healy Rea, I say more power to Dolly !

I would more say they've done what people think their job is.
