Dolphin dies after being passed around for selfies

A crowd of idiots decided it was a great idea to pass a dolphin around for stupid selfies. Afterwards the dolphin died because of being out of the water. It was discarded on the sand. I actually can't get over the sheer stupidity or heartlessness of some so called people. What do ye think? Link below.

Honestly, I feel that people who try to humanise animals end up being crueller to them than people who recognise they are animals, think like animals and will react to stimulus like animals. These arseholes probably didn't think they were doing harm - they were just taking a selfie. The sheer stress of the situation it found itself in was probably a big part in its death.

It's kinda like the if the tree falls in the woods and if no one is around, does it make a sound scenario. These people saw this dolphin and couldn't resist taking a selfie. If it wasn't documented online on social media it's like it didn't happen. Some cultures do eat dolphins I'm sure as part of their native diet but these people took it upon themselves to parade this poor baby around for vanity.

At the end of the day people are going to have different reactions to something like this. That's life. Some people cry watching Coronation St, some people remain unaffected while watching a YouTube clip of torture.

To me it doesn't matter that the dolphin found himself washed up on the shore. It's the fact that people thought it would be ok to use a living creature in such a way. Instead of putting him back in the sea they decided to use him as a prop in their ridiculous photos.

It baffles me that there are those who have such little regard for living creatures. We don't own the planet. We share it.

I'm not sure what the laws in Argentina are either to be honest.

Of course not everyone in the video is guilty, anybody suggesting that is out of order.

I think everyone who handled the dolphin and didn't put it back in the water (so everyone who handled the dolphin in this case) has some level of culpability for that creature's death and suffering.

Animal cruelty is against the law for a reason.

I am not sure what the laws are in Argentina in relation to animal cruelty. If there are any, then they should investigate what happened and hold those responsible for any crimes committed. Not everybody in the video is guilty. I also can't see any pictures of selfies.

Fair point. I just used a chimp because they're comparable with many dolphin species when it comes to intelligence and emotional awareness.

That's essentially what they did to the baby dolphin; killed it for a picture. Dolphins are on a par with primates for awareness / intelligence too.

She attacked Fergus Finlay last summer. She started circling around him and flipping her tail. The stupid bollix thought she was playing. Once the tail starts slapping that's notice for you to hightail it. He got a headbutt in the bollix for his troubles.

Ok, I take your point that the initial intent wasn't to kill the animal but they must have known they were killing it and continued to take pictures anyway.

I think the distinction between "I'm going to kill this animal" and "I'm killing this animal through my current actions but don't care" is a fairly thin distinction.
