dodgy enough territory for this thread. but a claim of 3 months tax and 5 months test and it looks clean.

the lack of mileage in the add and general avensisness of it is screaming ex-taxi to me, but maybe not.

"rattle in engine when cold", don't think i'd panic, definitely worth going to look at i'd say. you'd want to hear the celica when it's cold; it sounds like a blacksmiths forge, but once it's warm it's like a peach, i think it's a "characteristic" of a high mileage vvti.

another piebald micra. those spurious hubcaps are a bit depressing, but otherwise it's the more exciting 1.2 model which came with some kind of keyless entry iirc, trip computer, bootlid spoiler, colour co-ordinated mirror casings and door handles, rear head restraints, multi function steering wheel and half pleather interior over a standard micra.

i think they were supposed to have front fogs, which this one hasn't and that combined with the odd headlights and being sold by a part time dealer would have me a bit wary. it could still be a good car for someone not too into cars though if you got it down to €1500 ish.

Big miles, but it looks very tidy. Mk1 focus is a nice car, looks good in "gunmetal grey", nice Ghia spec, reliable if slow TDDi engine and slightly chaeeeper tax than most early noughties diesels. If there's no rust it'd be a good car.

Odd hubcaps, front bumper looks a very different colour, scuffs on both sides of the rear bumper, nice gouge on the driver side rear quarter panel and it's manky dirty.

I'd say it has a very high mileage but for €500 quid, a good day spent cleaning it up could give it a new lease on life.

Padre Pio sticker in the rear window too so cheap insurance.

Nice bus, rear wiper is either fecked or wrong sized.

Check the bottoms of the rear doors very thoroughly. My old yoke was a similar vintage, and was a hoor for tin worm.

Same, I had a 99 mk1 diesel, decent car to drive, felt light but well planted for a car it's size. Had like 170k miles on it but it drove great. Biggest drawback was rot along the bottoms of the doors, bootlid and rear arches, mostly cosmetic but once it's started it's hard to reverse.

Nice-ish Carat model. Good spec too with a/c, central locking, electric windows and mirrors foor such a small car. Unfortunately being an old JDM Starlet, insurance companies will laugh you off the phone. You see those tail lights alone changing hands for €200 at times!

Sills rot out on them too. From what i've seen I think the facelifts are worse for rust.

I'm still keeping an eye on diesels, and the 1.9 Audi A4 Diesel engine of that vintage is supposed to be a decent one.

It's regged as 90bhp not 130 (now it may have been illegally misregged to get lower vrt) silver tdi badge on the back would suggest it's 90

The 90/130 discrepancy I saw, but didn't understand, the two points on owners/import are good catches (where's that info?), and put that in context.

The second one isn't too bad looking and is holding up its miles in fairness but 2k?

The second one looks nice. If the 2 owner story holds it's probably a good one. In my experience a car with fewer owners is better looked after.

9386 is an import number anyway. 1 owner in Ireland, KE reg being sold in Kildare, so that would add up.
