Looks like my mothers octy is caught for that recall. By the sounds of it it's going to make a complete fcuk of the engine. From what I can gather there just updating the software so exhaust emissions are being treated by the NOx capture device in the exhaust where as before it was just letting the exhaust emissions straight out bypassing it or whatever. Ultimately it's going to mean less performance and higher fuel costs. I wonder is it going to be a forced recall or could you get away without doing the recall probably not its not really a car that could afford to loose a few bhp.

I sold the Fiesta this evening. Fairly happy with the fact that it was only sitting up 5 days since I last drove it.

no way would I bring a car back for that. the emissions control system is effectively dormant. who knows whether it works or will go wrong outside warranty.

It's fairly lightly here is going to be a power drop as you effectively going to be putting more back pressure on the engine by increasing the resistance of the exhaust gases going out the exhaust. I mean if there was no benefits from it be wouldn't of done it in the first place the benefits were increased power and reduced fuel consumption. Ah sure I suppose we will let a few get it done first and see what they think. No doubt someone will go to the paper or joe Duffy if it does what I think it will do.

They were thinking of just changing it now. The issue is my brother is learning to drive at the end of the year that kind of why they had been holding onto it as he is going to be quite frankly rough as fcuk on it. He has zero interest in learning to drive and is being forced. He is the type that would rather take bus train.

Insurance renewal came, from 860 to 1176 euro. As I an insured through a broker with axa they said they can do it for 1020 euro if I switch to Octane insurance.

Are they Michelin energy or what are they. I have Pirelli p7 on the front of mine and the wet grip is not good enough really they spin way too easy. I might go goodyears but I'd be interested to heear what the michelins are like are they 205/55/16 if so are they expensive.

Ya energy savers, not quite the same one as the other 3 but close enough, writing is a bit different, but it's probably just a newer one. 100 squid a corner, with all the malarkey, balanced etc, free air and valve cap too, which I thought was nice of them. Have done 6k miles on the rest of them since mid July, and they seem to be doing well, still a decent bit of thread in them. I have noticed I am so hard on braking, when it comes to stopping at a junction, I literally hop off the brakes. It's only a recent habit, I must kick it! They are surviving that anyway.

On another note, it's so foggy out tonight, can barely see 10 foot infront of me!

Got my new Falkens from oponeo today.

On the positives, the RX was still bone cold and stalled hard when it hit - then restarted with a single crank to move off. Was shut down cold again... and then sat for ten minutes before being cold-started again.

It should, it did for me.
While I had the company van (A Megavan (urgh) a few Foci and a Connect), I had a 1984 Mercedes W123 200 and later on a 1973 MKIII Cortina. Was insured with Carole Nash and they only require you to have the use of another car, no need to have it in your name.
Check with Carole Nash if they still do business, there was a nasty upset about bikes a few years ago, but I think cars were not affected.
Any issues, check the classic motor forum or check with me, a friend of mine knows all the ins and outs of running classics.
You have to bear one thing in mid though. If you drive a company van and a classic car, you will not accrue no claims bonus. No problem while it lasts, but if you need a car a few years down the raod, some insurers could be iffy. I was able to get a letter from my employer's insurance stating I had X years of claims free driving and that was accepted.

I noticed a good bit of fog walking down to college this morning still the amount of cars with only parking lights or DRL's on I'm sure if I had looked hard enough if off seen cars with no lights on.

How long do you have the pinto to put up 5k miles. I have a bit over 10k km on my Megane in 4 months which is probably a bit lower than I'd normally average. There's 130k km on it now (80k miles on it) at 4.5 years old.

That's the one.
Funny thing is, I was up in a national park in Spain, not north America at all. Unlikely to ever see one again I'd say. Few foresters around alright.

I've heard about that 9-2x and I always thought it was just a Subaru engine mounted into a Saab body. I just looked it up and saw the pictures...Wow. Would love to see one in the flesh, so mad to see two very distinct cars melded together.
