New Irish Gambling Legislation

I have been getting some emails in the last few days from some gambling companies, Titan Bet being the biggest, saying that due to new legislation in Ireland they could no longer offer a sportsbook to Irish customers but casino games and poker would continue as usual.

Anybody know what specific legislation they are referring to?

I got one from netbet so I looked into it. It's a 1% tax on Irish bets paid by the bookmaker. It already applied to actual shops so it's being applied online also as of today.

There's a shock.
Casino & Poker will remain.
Casino would be a cash cow & Poker they take a commission.
All they would have to do is "wear the 1%" as most bookies will.

have a titanbet account...didnt know that was affected
little loss in fairness to anyone of them who dont absorb the 1%

Most companies will eventually allow include the fee in their odds.

Disaster, sporting bet were good too. Lot of bookies gone.

These no longer accept sports bets from residents of Ireland. I am sure there are many more to come.

Legislation is changing the face of all online gambling all over Europe. In all honesty its probably a good thing if you are in a country open to getting it all legalised

good and bad to this, feel it was rushed through far too quickly so much so that licences hadn't been applied to, surely it should have been flexible .5 or 1% range rather than just 1%, i.e 1% on Irish Sport based sports and dwindling based on other factors. 1% just eats into margin they give customers really.

15% on intermediaries, i.e brokers or betfair comm I think, thats a large chunk for them but there irish based anyway, assume there are ways like with corp tax not to pay all 15%

They stopped taking new customers with the new tax coming into effect I think, probably change policy soon with this. Have potential but they charge for deposits that no other exchanges do so that's a drawback.
