Yeah it's definitely to do with the seedlings when the draw was done.

Jersey clashes are decided by a coin toss at RWCs.

I wonder if England get the home dressing home at Twickenham throughout the RWC no matter who they play.

Though if Moore and Healy both go, and we opt for 5 props,
Then either Healy or Moore would have to bench against Canada, so I'm guessing Moore is closer to full fitness so all he'd have to do is be ready for 19th Sept which is 3 and a half weeks away, and plenty of time, assuming he's still ahead of White for selection.
Healy could take until the Italy or France match, which would give him til 4th and 11th Oct respectively, which is 6 to 7 weeks, which is a very long time I think. If Healy's doctors are happy that he can recover in that time then it could be worth taking him instead of a 3rd SH.

Tadhg Furlong trained too, maybe he's coming back to fitness but probably too late.

Rob Herring is back training too, for some reason.

So no mass cull of the squad yet anyway.

Healy obviously still doing rehab as well. I'm assuming that means that either there is still hope or they think he might be ready mid-tournament and they want him set in case of injury.

Well two things.

Moore is going to stay in the boot a bit longer than he needs to, to make sure that whatever is going on get's sorted. My major concern is that after a few weeks of no ground and pound cardio he is going to struggle to have the legs for 60 minutes of rugby.

That said, given his older injury was shoulder he most likely had built up good fitness otherwise.

Still though - he's been a crock for months, going to be hard to be ready for a RWC.

As for Healy, they wouldn't be putting time and effort into his rehab if they didn't feel he had a good shout at making the tournament. If there was no pic of Healy and Kiss was working 1:1 with Kilcoyne I'd be concerned.

For him to come in mid-tournament we would need an injury to happen. We can't just bring him in whenever we choose to.

If I was told he could be fit for the France game or at worse the quarters then I'd be happy enough with 01. McGrath / 17. Bent for the pool games.

Presumably if he doesn't pull through we could dump him as an injury? Bring in Killers then?

And as others have said, this might be what is driving the discussion around only having 2 Scrum-halves...

2 S/H's and 6 props to start with and if Healy doesn't make it then he gets replaced in the squad with another scrum-half...

Adding him to the squad buys you another 3 or 4 weeks recovery as the squad has to be in before August 31st I think..

Trimble's credit in the bank means he'll surely get a start if fit. Dave Kearney also deserves a go but then there's Keet to consider. Will he get a run on the wing against Wales or England but or is he exclusively a centre? Presumably Henshaw and Payne will start together on Saturday but I'd love to see Keet at 13 to give him an opportunity with the nailed down 9-10-12 combination. I imagine the lineup for England will be the first XV minus at most three players given an opportunity to break into the first XV.

All that looks and sounds good until we get an injury though. If McGrath picks up a slight knock in the first 1 or 2 (which keeps him out for a couple of weeks only) and Healy isn't fit do you send Healy or McGrath home?

Will Healy be good enough the moment he comes back from injury then as well? Or will he need a few weeks to build back up to his best?

That's not going to happen I'm afraid. I reckon the first choice XV is decided on, with possibly the wings as the slight exception (due to injuries etc). Earls is back-up 13 and will play in the opening 2 there but I reckon that's about it failing injury to Payne.

Whatever you do is a risk. Bringing six props is a risk. Leaving Healy out is a massive risk. All you can do is take your best guess at what the lowest risk is.

Healy has to travel, Bent is more than good enough for Canada and Romania, so that's what I'd do.

Yeah. It'd be a risk. Obviously you'd send McGrath home though and take in Killers.
