Looking for relaxed wedding venue!!

Hi folks,
I am looking for some help with a wedding venue for next summer. We want somewhere away from the tradional Irish hotel wedding. Looking for something fun, chilled out and informal and also on a budget! Anywhere around Ireland would suit. Our budget old be 10k max for 120 people. Would love some where we could all hang out in a village and have a civil ceremony there also. We were thinking about pub venues but proving hard to find online.....

Leixlip house hotel owns Leixlip Manor, a georgian style manor in Leixlip that can be rented for weddings.
You basically rent the entire place, staff and all for the weekend. I had wedding there about 3 years ago and could not recommend the place highly enough

I went to a wedding at the Anglers Rest and it was lovely, informal and relaxed. Not sure how many were there but we packed the upstairs and yet felt comfortable too.

Thanks for the replys! The problem with lexlip, although it is lovely the house hire really brings up the price. Anglers rest is lovely too but would prefer something in the country. Have just looked at glendalough house looks great, have contacted them for an idea of price....more suggestions welcome!!

We had the ceremony and reception at kippure in Wicklow nice and quiet out in the middle of nowhere but handy enough for the airport for those coming from abroad and lots of accommodation.

Would definitely be within budget too ours worked out at ~€60 a head.

Kippure looks lovely, looks like what we are looking for and a bit more affordable too! We have contacted them to see if we can call to see it.
Ballybeg looks fab, but a bit on the pricey side!!

Ghan House in Carlingford. We had our wedding there and it was lovely. The food was gorgeous and a very easy going day was had.

We held our reception at Kippure Estate last September, absolutely beautiful location in the middle of nowhere

Very reasonably priced and I found they were very open to different ideas regarding food/drinks/decor etc.

Might be worth a look?

Hey OP, have seen your thread on another site too

You have had Darver and Boyne Hill recommended to you there. I viewed the two of these so think we may have the same kind of style.

In the end, we went for the Station House in Kilmessan, Meath. Priced at about the same as the other two.
What turned us off Darver was it would be awkward to get to for our guests, not excessively so but enough to be an issue. Also rumours that the bar shut early and residents bar strictly for residents.
The dining room in BHH is an L shape and then you go downstairs for reception in essentially their bar area. I just felt that it would lead to a lot of splintering of the group. Also you don't really get much use out of the main house, just to stay in and get ready. Thought that was a shame.

Station House has gorgeous grounds with a quirky railway turntable to do your ceremony in.Very chilled out. Amazing food and a very good team. Party keeps going all night in Kilmessan

The function room looks a bit fuddy duddy on their website but a fairylight backdrop works wonders!
If you want I can show you some wedding pics/vid to give you a feel of how it works as a venue.
Finding the venue is the hardest bit but once you know what kind of vibe you want for your wedding it makes it easier.

I've recommending this place before and at least 1 person has booked it for their wedding next year. Its a beautiful old house with renovated barns and beautiful grounds in county Louth, 10 minutes off the M1. The owners are lovely and go out of their way to make your day unforgettable.
I was at a wedding there in June and it was the best wedding I've ever been to, the food was fabulous, it was pig on a spit from a local caterer and there was a barbeque later in the night. The dessert table was fantastic, all made by a lovely guy from Sicily and theres a lovely bar on the grounds... it really has everything, maybe I'm biased

It's well worth a look and won't break the bank, have a look on their website for their holiday rental and it'll give you an idea of the place but you need to see it to appreciate it... www.ashtreebarn.com. Their contact details are on there too.. Good luck I hope you find the perfect place.

I wanted something similar op so have visited or looked into a lot of similar venues! Here's some thoughts which hopefully might help.

Mount druid, amazing venue, very relaxed, but too impractical for us due to limited toilets, glamping, and it all being very spread out. If you're not having anyone elderly or kids it could be amazing, we Just couldn't make it work.

Kippure estate, very relaxed, very well priced, but we didn't like it at the open day and didn't like the accommodation. It's very subjective as a venue, i think you'd either love it or hate it if that makes sense.

Leixlip manor, very well priced, very nice grounds, but quite a dated looking reception room and quite small.

Boyne hill house, lovely to deal with, beautiful outdoor ceremony space, very relaxed bar area. Dining room was L shaped and claustrophobic but apart from that it's lovely.

Beaufield mews, lovely outdoor area, offer picnic or barbeque options. I personally thought if it rained it wouldn't look great because the indoor space is only ok looking in my opinion.

Martinstown house, very very casual, actually too casual for us with portaloos and a marquee. I found the place too cold and quite dusty, Could suit some though and the owner was lovely.

Millhouse, looked amazing and great packages, the staff were terrible to deal with though, we nearly went with them but got put off my how we were treated.

Clonabreany is a bit higher than your budget for 120 people but it's lovely and for us the right balance of somewhere casual but also clean, nice, and professional.

Hopefully some of that is of interest, you'll know straight away when you see places in the flesh whether or not you like them.

Not sure if this is what you're after exactly, it would certainly fit the "a bit different" criteria. You can rent the whole place out I think. And they do activities, archery, paintball etc...

Have checked out the station house and although it's a hotel it doesn't look too 'hotel' if that makes sense. Thanks for all the info on it Pooch90....gonna try and arrange a viewing really like the area for the ceremony outside and it's reasonably priced too!!
Also been talking to kippure today about calling out to see the place.
Loads of great ideas from ye lot that I would never have found myself!! 😀

Hey lovely stuff sounds like we are liking the same venues! Clonabreany is one of my favourites and I'm thinking it may be worth the little extra bit on the budget. Where did you end up booking for yourself? Was it there? going to see it tomorrow along with glebe house thanks to Sweetie's recommendation!

We're going with clonabreany! It's 100 pp, so definitely on the pricier end but it's beautiful. What we found hard was that we wanted somewhere casual but where the service and food was still great, and somewhere relaxed without being a bit of a dump which is quite tricky! Have heard great things about the station house too we just didn't like the function room. Very fussy over here

Forgot to mention Horetown house in wexford which was our second choice in the end! Gorgeous old house, beautiful ceremony room and marquee, and a very cool underground residents bar. The only reason we didn't book was it was a bit too far away from us but it's amazing and laid back without being at all shabby!
