RTE ads from the 80s...

Hey all! Would any of you guys know where I could get my grubby little mits on some old RTE tv ads from the 80s?? Is there anywhere on the net even?? Theres so many ads from the 80s I can remember, I'd love to see them again for a laugh/bit of nostalgia!!:) Thanks...

Guess what's back on the market....

Remember that ad from ages ago which had the funny song:
"Um Bongo,Um Bongo,they drink it in The Congo...

Well anyway,in the shop where I work,Um Bongo seems to have made a comeback and as soon as I saw it on the shelf I remembered that song from the ad :-)

"Way down deep in the middle of the Congo,
A hippo took an apricot, a guava and a mango.
He stuck it with the others, and he danced a dainty tango.
The rhino said, "I know, we'll call it Um Bongo"
Um Bongo, Um Bongo, They drink it in the Congo.
The python picked the passion fruit, the marmoset the mandarin.
The parrot painted packets, that the whole caboodle landed in.
So when it comes to sun and fun and goodness in the jungle,

Well,what I saw today were small cartons which come in 5packs,they are fruit juices with mixed flavours e.g. mango and passionfruit etc.

Don't ask me why this ad has entered me mind but I remember an ad with a woman looking into the camera and talking with a real raunchy voice,saying
"I won't wear anything.....without Cross Your Heart.And neither should you."

I used to tell my classmates that if we didn't cross our hearts we'

Don't ask me why this ad has just come into me head,but this shampoo ad,I think,was one of the older Herbal Essences ads.

This really posh and old fashioned teacher finds a bottle of that shampoo left behind in the classroom,and she makes all the girls stand outside and gives them a strict lecture on vanity,and she reads out from the bottle what differences the shampoo can make to their hair.She warns them that if nobody came forward to say who left it behind,that it would not be returned.But at the end of the ad after she sends the girls home after nobody claims it,it becomes obvious that she just wanted to keep the shampoo for herself all along!

I kind of wish they'd bring back ads like that fudge one.Droll and to the point and none of those tiresome attempts at knowing irony that make so many modern ads so irritating.

Getting back to the Golden Maverick-was there another ad with that same music,which showed a cow being branded?

That must be an edited version,I remember at the point at 2.01 where he holds up the pint there was a kind of strange short sequence where the barman saw the guys reflection changing in the mirror and looks scared and spins around,there was this kind of horror movie type sound effect when this happens.It was right after that point then where the guitar music starts and the guy walks out with the pint.I suppose that bit was probably considered too scary for kids who might be watching on a daytime slot so they had this slightly edited version.

I used to love the scenery in that ad,too(still do)...It can only be Irish-the Ballydorn boat is the giveaway.Somewhere in Antrim or Down I think.

I'd forgotten that Ad. Really good but shame about Bass - forever associated with Bertie. It was filmed in the Mourne Mountains by the look of it and the Ballydorn lightship is is anchored in Strangford Lough.
