Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I hear ya!

Im just wonderiwondering... I did stage 1 for the sreserves in November 2013, would I still not be called for training next Thursday ya? Like there wouldnt have been a hope of the the BR form, the medical and the superintendent interview been cleared from the timeframe of November to March? Just wondering was I too slow on the BR form... :/

If ya dont laugh about it you'd cry-

It does take some time to clear the BR stage depending how many individuals on your form need to be checked. If there are foreign jurisdictions involved there is always a delay. The whole process can take from six months to four years and it does teach you patience.

    Hi RUNNER

The last reserve class that were there are still waiting to graduate. It was said that the next reserve class to be trained won't be any time soon! Have you been waiting long?

I'm stuck in phase four with 40 hours complete awaiting graduation date! The collage is mental at the moment with the new recruits so hopefully we will get a date for this year! I was waiting four years but it was worth the wait, it's a fantastic experience. All the best and I hope you won't have to wait as long as I did!!!

No worries that's what the thread is for, I started in November 2014 and I started phase phase four in January 2014, it's up to yourself how long it takes, basically you have to complete 40 hours on the job experience at the station you're designated before graduation. My 40 hours are complete and still no graduation date but I'll still do shifts just to keep in with my unit they're a sound bunch also the experience is great!

First thing they make you do is sign a secrecy act so I can't say too much other than if you listen in the lectures and do a bit of study each evening you'll be grand! After the first week you have a mock exam which gives you a good idea of lay out of the real exam.

Of course it will.I don't think someone will say "NO" to those dates. At least it's still 3 month to organise holidays or days-off from work. Was affraid it will start in a week cos remember previous dates was around end of June.

I noticed phase 3 is a Thursday and Friday. Strange because it's going to be hard enough to get my time off out of work for the 2 weeks only to have to go back down mid week for 2 days. Thankfully my job are understanding.

  • Registered Users Posts: 23 Slava1976

Yep.Looks like now Phase 1 and 3 are on Thu and Fri...And Phase 2 only 8 days instead of 2 weeks.

  • Registered Users Posts: 23 Slava1976

Thanks now that song is stuck in my head. Not great days for having a session in the pub, Friday's and Saturdays would have been ideal.

"Best of luck to all you going in to the Garda Reserve".

If some of you can't make the coming phase, I'm sure you'll make the next phase.

Well done guys... It brings back memories.

Just for the record, we are not a separate organisation like the FCA. We are a rank within An Garda Siochana..
There is no such thing as Garda reserve on it own! We are members within the Guards... Let's get it right lads!

Well done future members... Welcome to the hard nock life...

P.S. be aware of the Red Man! during trainning... Pmsl

So happy that there is movement on training again.

I want to say a big thanks to all the helpful users on this for all the advice over the past few years, answering questions and helping out with all the stages of the recruitment form interviews and meetings, medicals etc.. Much appreciated for the advice, without all the people posting here would of been a lot harder of a process and may not of even gone my way .Great time to be going in as well just as new powers are being given to reserve members . Again thanks , and the very best of luck to anyone else that got the call for training.
