What think ye? Is it a positive step in tackling obesity? Or is it a way of shaming women who want to celebrate their natural curves?

Personally, I can't stand anyone who would take a picture of themselves, upload it to social media, and use #curvy to describe it. "here's a photo of myself, I don't think I'm fat but I don't think I'm thin, so look at this picture and please love me".

I wouldn't mind but in nearly all of the related pictures to the article, the women look to be borderline obese. It's not even "curvy", it's just unhealthy. Jaysus wept.

its not a case of dressing it up or throwing a spanx on it - im not saying its normal - it is on the increase - I thought when I was a size 16/18 I should have been hiding from the harpoons - that is no longer even really seen as being that big - but I dont think people should be discriminated or hated for it. Its the hate on here that I have the issue with.

Any links to the idea that skipping meals leads to diabetes. You know the construct of 3 meals a day is a recent one? And I think the whole thing of eating because it's a meal time has a huge amount to with levels of obesity. People don't listen to their bodies anymore. They eat because it's "time" or because they believe stuff like skipping a meal occasionally will make them sick instead of eating when they are hungry.

No but they do define the amount of tissue/cartalidge/ skin etc you need to contain /cover them.

and that's the scale of the problem. people with medically significant levels of obesity are ignoring the issue because there are so many people around them that are fatter and even fatter.

that is why people are scared of obesity being normalised.

There have been harsh comments here... and nasty ones. I dont condone that. I do have an issue with what you yourself admit is happening. Obesity is becoming normalised. It is a symptom of something very wrong in society. We are not designed to be that shape. Iti s not good for us. And for every one that has a genetic predisposition towards obesity, there are 50... no, 100, who just eat too much.

Predisposition is a red herring though, A good 90% I would say is Environmental.

Guy from home I used to go to school with, became morbidly obese during his teens, and I mean nearly too obese to function.

Came to the stage where he was told to go on walks every day to try and bring his weight down. He used to buy a breakfast roll and walk around the town eating that and chugging one of those Yazzoo (or whatever they're called) chocolate milks.

I don't think any amount of help will get through to that guy.

sad story. i know a chap thats in serious trouble. his family and friends have given up on him now. he ll probably die soon. as i said earlier, i believe its actually a mental health disorder and requires such help

Fat people have no problem saying that "real women have curves". Overweight people have absolutely no problem themselves putting down slim women as being inadequate, just to paper over their own health issues.

I think you'll find that it's not just men who see overweight people as being unhealthy and undesirable.

Nonsense. Its the lie that obese is normal, ok, and healthy. Being rail thin attracts venom too, along with constant criticism along the lines of 'would you not eat something?'

Whether you find big or small figures sexually attractive is a personal thing. You sure youre not talkingabout your own personal bias here?
