good pubs in Tullamore

Howya getting on!I'm having my stag in Tullamore on the Bank Holiday and just wondering where is the best spots to have a few pints? which pub do you think would be best to watch the fa cup final at 5.30?somewhere that does good grub.there is 12-14 of us in it so we were thinking of all wearing Wexford jerseys for the craic.how might that go
down in the town?

The Copper pot is another pub that does good pub grub, it claims to be a "gastro pub" but it's not, just your normal pub grub fair but good for what it is

I don't like it but the manor is popular
Fergies gets a nice mix but the harbour bar is better craic.

If the Offaly inn is still open stay away, the hideout, and Joe lees

There's a new pub down the bottom of the one way street, where an portach used to be that's decent

Agree with all the above, however the"the wolftrap" appears to be closed for now.The "copper pot" often do special drink offers when cup finals/matches are on.

The newtown bar Lexie? Think the Glenisk Clearys run it. Heard its a good spot, got 4 pints from the Pub Spy last week.

The lads that were running it were only leasing it, I presume its the original owners that were in bother if it was cleared out that quick. Pity.

Yea i had a guinness in there before a match about a month ago, ill put it this way, i havnt been back since. Its a shame cos it used to be good craic in there, but the pints were terrible ( father had Ale, brother Heineken, all nothing to write home about ) and not many in there for a sunday afternoon.

I will post here instead of starting a new thread.

Organising a stag in October. It's not in Tullamore but we'll be passing through on the way home on a Sunday and we want to stop off here for a few hours as it will split the journey and also because City vs United is on followed by a rugby world cup semi final.

So, can anyone suggest a decent pub in Tullamore that's good that we could reserve a spot for 20 lads or so to watch a few hours of sport and also get some grub?

Cant beat the copper pot still for the rugby & grub, but i don't know if you'd get to reserve a spot for 20 on a match day. Only one way to find out! Then there are always the old reliable, will always be space and good food (with screens) in Bridge house

For the Man United Match definately go to Fergies in Market Square. Great atmosphere for matches. 2 big screens aswell.

Meh Fergies usually has too many brats running around it on a Sunday. Screens are there, fair enough but the bridge house has the screens too and would be a bit calmer.

Copper pot on Sunday's are great though. 4 vodkas and red bull only a tenner on Sunday's I think

Knew of the Bridge House alright but wasn't sure what it would be like for sport.

Had read about the Copper Pot online, seems to have great reviews, from photos on their facebook page it looked small enough though for a group of 20 to barrel in so wasn't sure.

Don't want to jinx it but that day could very well be the day Ireland finally play in a world cup semi final so if they do I'm sure even the bridge house will have a good atmosphere.

I'm thinking that on day 3 of a stag a bit of seating reserved will be much appreciated/required though!

Heading to Tullamore shortly for a night with my wife. I'm looking for recommendations for a pub(s) for a few drinks that might have some craft beer ideally on tap?

Also looking for a recommendation for somewhere with music? We're mid40s so not looking for a place jammed with kids. It could be live music or a place playing indie e.g Oasis, Stone Roses, etc.

In the absence of any of the above, advice regarding just a nice pub for people of our general age group would be appreciated.

Hugh lynches have craft beer, probably suit your age group. I'm not sure if they have music.
The wolf trap have craft beers on tap, but I'm not sure if it's still a good spot. It was very very quiet the past few times I was in there.

The harbour bar has music and is good fun though a bit cramped on a busy night , doubt they've craft beers

Try Jamie's Pub (up from the Brewery Tap) small comfortable and live music or Fergie's in the market square.
If you would like somewhere unusual to go early, Tullamore Dew Visitors Centre is worth a visit.
